Hey Guys,

I am a little confused on the multi-player aspect. For internet games, is it a person that hosts the game of is it hosted by starwrath?

Babylon 5 for example, I see it has been up for 13 days, am I correct to assume that its a persons PC that can crash and end the game?

Well any machine has the probability to crash. I dont know if Baby 5 is hosted on a dedicated server or not, but I know I had one up for the first few days I was playing and it was just hosted on the machine I was playing on.

I will assume from the fact that the owner talks to the players through the server console, that they most likely have it on a machine of its own, but you know what they say about assumption

The Main server belongs to Starwraith. B5 is "private" and has a long history of serving the Evochron community with honor and distinction. MM, the "voice" behind the chat box, will probably be along some time soon and elucidate.

Babylon 5 server is a dedicated server and barring acts of God and the whims of the IP provider runs 24/7 and has been running virtually continous [excluding the aforementioned] almost from the beginng.
The server administrater devotes much of his time to monitoring & maintaining the server in continous working order, making sure to keep up with all updates and resetting the server quickly if IP is lost.
And yes, this usually happens at a critical point for the player. If it happens while I am away, it may take a few hours before it is discovered and reset.
The server administrator will take the time to answer questions and offer comments to any player who wants the help, assuming, of course, that he is present atm.
Unfortunatly every time the server crashes for whatever reason the "days running" starts all over.
I can tell you that the UPS unit went bad and was changed out this morning, so that will reflect a new start time.
Hope this clears up any questions...

Most welcoming Server admin I have ever "met". When ever he is on, MM is always happy and will gladly give advice to any players asking for it. Clan BA, and myself personaly consider MM to be as close a friend as you can get with out actualy meeting. In all the time playing, I think I have only seen B5 down 2 maybe 3 times in the last 18 months, and then only for the shortest of times.

Remember, the beer is always cheep at B5, but that is for a reason!

LOL.....Lizard is keeping His tail warm on B5 Server.......Yes, Babylon5 has always been available 24/7 since I started playing 1.5 years or so ago while even the Starwraith Server was not available a lot of times Babylon5 was always there to welcome lost and weary travelers who could not find their way on other Servers because they do not talk. And in MMaggio's honor a Station has been built in Saphire and has a name I can't Remember.........You'll know when you find it....

Yup, MMaggio is doing a really appreciated work out of his dedication to the community.

You'll never feel alone while flying in the skies of B5 as you can almost feel him even when it's not answering in th chat. you'll end up pretending he's nearby doing something.

Almost 2 years, I always see his server online with different names and he was already there. In addition to "speaking server", a person who really helps many pilots, and a good friend.

Don't forget to visit station in Sapphire system called "I can't remember". It was built for MMaggio's continuous service and to honor him.

I for one, know how much time, effort and determination it takes to keep a dedicated server running ( and populated ), were it not for MM we wouldn't have the vibrant multiplayer base that we do.
