Ok, I've been on the fence for this game for a long time ( pretty much since its release ). I was curious if you could own space stations and capital ships / carriers. ( I like to own huge fleets )
Currently I own X3 : Reunion and X3 : Terran Conflict, both are great games, but I want the seamless universe , and planetary landing.. which said titles lack. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Hi, and welcome
nope no owning of stations /carriers , though you can have a fleet of ships ( at least in SP )Originally posted by Mjolnir

seamless universe, seamless planetary descents, complete freedom to land how where and when you want ( though some planets have defenses or dangerous atmospheric conditions ). At no point in the game are you stopped from going anywhereCurrently I own X3 : Reunion and X3 : Terran Conflict, both are great games, but I want the seamless universe , and planetary landing.. which said titles lack. I am a fellow X player, have been since 2004. I have X2, X3: Reunion and Terran Conflict. Although the X games and Evochron Games are legends in their own right, no pun intended;), I find the Evochron games very satisfying when I have that fix for Seamless Space Travel, Exploration, planetary landings and fast combat.
When I have the need for speed, and want to jump in the cockpit and throttle up, it's legends all the way. If realism is what your looking for, you are in for a treat.
I have Renegades and Legends and will keep supporting the games because they are just that good. Here you will find a great flying club that will support you.
So from one X player to another, this would be a great game to enjoy, and you can't go wrong buying it.

Thank you for the replies.
I'm downloading the game right now ( i'm assuming it's a limited demo ) from starwraight, I'm going to check it out to see if I like it.

Well... it looks fun. But now I keep getting an error 99. Not sure what that is so it's time to go poke around for answers.

Poked it, no go. I'm not changing my security programs to play a game. I added it to the av exclusion lists and it was running for a bit. Still crashes... game looked promising, but since I work on troubleshooting stuff at my job I don't want to troubleshoot stuff too terribly much at home.
Good luck all, happy gaming.

You can always let me help with troubleshooting for you, just complete the steps here: http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegends/faq.htm#8 It may not be the 'security programs', but something else.

the .nfo file is on it's way Vice. Much appreciated, forgive me if I came off a little rude I've had a horrid day/week. I'm not used to game devs offering help directly. I've been playing a lot of snes roms and such lately if that gives you any idea how I feel about the current state of gaming. This is one gem of about 3 I can think of that I still play / want to play. I quit Modern Warfare 2 due to rampant hacking and poor support to the community, but this forum is quite well organized and seems quit locked on.
I look forward to learning the game a little bit then jumping into multiplayer

Got it, thanks. I've analyzed your system and sent some details on possible causes and their solutions. I hope your week improves.

Ok, seems removing AVG was a fix. Also updated the drivers to the newest release for the video card I'm running in this system.
Now, the demo was awesome. I like the jumping around at will, giant space sandbox, but I was confined to one system due to it being a demo is my guess. The mining was fun and the graphics were pretty good too. My only gripe about the demo : It was only 80 minutes ^(Q_Q)^ lol. I like the huge time customization of the ships too.. got to play around in the ship yard a bit , hauled in around 400k credits in the amount of time I had, blew away a couple of ships. A couple things I'm fuzzy on :
1) Assembly in the ship yard, there are only so many points? Not sure how that works.
2) Can I install multiple mining / tractor beams on a ship?
I fully intend to buy this game once I have some free $ floating around. ( In other words I've gotta ask my wife
)

Somebody will probably come along and suggest that you re-install the game to get another 80 minutes of free play. That works but, as you surmised, you are still limited to one star system in your travels. To get the real feel of a seamless universe, you need to install the whole game.

Glad it's working on your system now.
... Each frame provides a certain level of assembly resources that you use to design your ship. Larger frames provides more assembly resources and offer better shielding/armor, but aren't as maneuverable or as fast and use more fuel. If you design a ship that exceeds the assembly resources available for the frame you selected, the 'Assembly Left:' value at the top will turn red and you'll need to reconfigure your design to stay within the resource limit. Each component will use a certain amount of the assembly resources and will effect various aspects of your ship. Larger fuel tanks will give you more range, larger cargo bays will let you carry more items, more powerful shield cores provide better protection, more powerful engines provide higher speed, and better wing/thruster systems improve agility. You will need to carefully prioritize your design for the features that are most important to you and the role you want to play in the game.
This section from the instructions included with the game may help:1) Assembly in the ship yard, there are only so many points? Not sure how that works.

Not at the same time. However, you can hire a particular crew member that can improve the efficiency/recovery rate of the mining beam for faster results.2) Can I install multiple mining / tractor beams on a ship?

Heh. I could reinstall it yes, but that would just get boring. It ran fine on my wife's computer after I took AVG off so I'm going to go out on a limb and say it won't even make my own computer flinch. ( Radeon HD 4850 1gig and 8 gigs system ram, dual core running stock @ 3.0 ghz ) Now I'm just going to be trolling / scouring the forums for info until I get this game.
