I couldnt find it on the forum ( searched for death penalty, killed penalty ) but what is the penalty for dieing in space in MP?
If i understood correctly, your progress in MP is also present in SP. So i guess when u die in MP, you are killed off in SP too?

No Death Penalty.....You respawn and go again! in MP if a Human pilot kills you it records it in the server text. You will respawn at your last Save point....sooo if you did not save after collecting a full cargo of platinum and you battle a Human pilot and die your cargo will not be there when you respawn.....So remember to save! and if you saved in the sapphire system and battled and lost in the Cerulean system you will respawn in sapphire
"Good Flying"
Edit: You will respawn if an AI kills you and in the text it will just say you were destroyed. Also if you are killed during a contract/mission you will not be paid the credits for that contract/mission and if you are the leader of the contract in the sector in MP and you die then no one receives the credits for the mission....also if you have hired a crew for your ship they will lose loyalty points and will abandon ship at the next docking if their loyalty drops too low.

Thanks for the responds.
So essentially the server is keeping 'scores' when it comes down to pvp?
Well, i'd better start doing some combat in SP and see how it goes

not really, there used to be a system that would keep track of PvP scores, but it was abandoned since most of the servers didnt take it up, well its not abandoned, its just not in use.....Originally posted by Oldfenster

The server does keep the log of activity and the log does show who was killed, but it is far from what you might call, "keeping a record".
No one is keeping a record other than reflecting the flow of activity on the server. Atm, no one has access to the log other than the server operator, and it is often deleted in time. There is no permanent record of PVP kills. The game itself keeps records of your kills, but not your being killed.
In the event of clan match or a free-for-all PVP match, the server log can verify who killed who. Other than that, there is no record kept of any player who gets killed by anything or anyone.
I hope that answers your question.

Is there a (server) setting to switch off the targeting computer?
I kinda feel its usually that u have to point in the general direction (with the target in range ) and then u often hit the target. U dont even have to aim for the predicted 'hit target'.

Unless you have mastered "The Force", I don't think you'll hit much without it.
Good Luck trying, tho'.

I thought it would make excellent pvp when the server can switch off the MDTS for all players.

No, the server can't do that, but if it's agreed beforehand that everyone cancels MTDS, I can make life difficult for cheaters ! LOL
