I think I need to use somthing other than sketchup for my next model, its a bit limiting, I would like to make a texture for this but there is no texture map export for sketchup also its a pain in the ass scaling my model as it looses poligons when size is reduced.

I see. What did you use to export it? Everytime I export my models into the game, no textures are applied... I've never been able to figure it out. It's unfortunate, because I've modeled a few ships which I'd like to be able to fly.

Just drop it in your sketchup plugins folder, btw dont apply any textures to your model in sketchup, the game does'nt like them. Oh and scaleing the modle in sketchup for me was a pain in the arse lol. But I hope it works well for you.

I've been annoyed by scaling too. I'm working on my own custom frame and when I tested it, I quickly discovered that the ship was several times larger than the station it was docked in.

Hehe, yes, that happened to me the first time, too. I was wondering "hey, where's my frame?" And then it swung round and I could see that it was surrounding the camera.
One easier way to check scaling is to use the profile selection screen. A wireframe representation of your ship will show up on the left hand side when selecting your profile if the profile you are selecting was using stock ship which you just replaced with your new one. It can also help with orienting properly, as (iirc) the ship should be pointed up if it is oriented the right way. If you compare the size of your ship in that window to the size of other ships from other profiles, you can at least do all of your major tweaking there before finally loading up your game to do the little nit-pick tweaks.
