Beacons: How to find without guide? *SPOILERS*

I'm following the Beacon trail for the main story quest, but it feels like its going to take forever. My current clue is "Look on the night side of the planet."

Yeah. Thats... half the planet right there. I know the guide lists the coordinates, but thats cheating! How do I find the beacon, just keep looking? Does a Science Officer help? What?

Yep, just keep looking....and no I do not think Science officer helps in finding beacons...

You can find If you try enough.
Except a few, I found nearly all by myself.

I used a zig zag search for planet bound beacons and kept my eye on the horizon as I skimmed the planets surface when I spotted the beacon....Hope this helps
