I have the Nav Con open, I see a station icon some distance from my current loc. I want to see what the station is, I right click on it, I expect to centre onto the station and be able to zoom in and get a text as to what it is. But this does not happen. Right click does not seem to centre the map on your cursor or am I doing something wrong here?
Also if you zoom the Nav Con all the way in, I see four small arrows at N, S, E,W. These illuminate if you mouse over them, but do not seem to pan the map if I left click them, again am I misunderstanding something here?

Sounds like you're expecting icon centering when the map uses sector centering. The map always uses global sector centering, so the center of the map is always 0 X 0 Z/Y.
To see what a station is, just hold the mouse pointer over its icon. To lock a nav point to the hangar of the station, right click on its icon.

As for centering a station, you can zoom in on it but only if you've aligned the cursor in 3-D. To do that, you usually need to flip the navigation map while it's still zoomed out ... to make sure it displays your target along the Y-axis. Then left-click on the station. I usually then flip the map back to "overhead" view to check the cursor position ... then right-click to zoom in and designate the station as my destination.

It is working very good and simple.
Little practice on it, you'll see nav map is working as flawless...
