Hi,
I would please like to ask some questions.
- I have read in the Forum about a device that is found and used in the beacon game. Is this a device that can be kept and used in regular play, that is, after you've finished the beacon game? If so, is it required to get to, for example, Sol?
- If not, how do you get to Sol and other hard to reach/find places? What is the recommended procedure to discover out of the way places? How do I locate wormholes etc.?
I am willing to look for them myself but need a clue where to start. I do have a Mantis drive if needed.

You will defenitely need your Mantis Drive. There are several things you will find at the end of the Beacon quests. The best way to start is with the beacon quests but get comfortable with a little bit of combat and mining and exploring till you get a decent ship with eight hardpoints and 5 cargo bays......

Everything you do in SP counts the same as MP and vice-versa. So there is no "loss" from one mode to the other.
As for the beacon quest, it starts in Sapphire and the first clue is given at the start of the game. Each successive beacon gives a clue to the next. Some may be hard and confusing, but with patience and navigation skills, can be worked out.
If you get stumped, someone will help.
The end of the quest will bring you to Sol.
As for wormholes, etc. This is a game based more on "exploration & trading" as opposed to mindless combat.
As you travel the cosmos, you will find many exciting things if you take the time.
If you don't have the patience for that, join MP and ask players for help.
I would recommend Babylon 5 because the server will actually "talk to you" and can offer some help.
Besides that, most players are friendly and willing to help.

Items needed to activate beacons are the same items you use it trade, mining, etc. Not all of them can be found or purchased in every sector of the galaxy ... so it helps if you keep track of where you've seen certain items. Your navigation Log can be your friend.- I have read in the Forum about a device that is found and used in the beacon game. Is this a device that can be kept and used in regular play, that is, after you've finished the beacon game? If so, is it required to get to, for example, Sol?
Crewmembers, such as a science officer or navigator, can be very useful in directing you toward unknown places. But keep in mind that, unless you pay them a lot more than the going price, it's unlikely they will remain aboard your ship the next time you dock.- If not, how do you get to Sol and other hard to reach/find places? What is the recommended procedure to discover out of the way places? How do I locate wormholes etc.?
There is a guidebook ... but it offers a lot more than just a clue.I am willing to look for them myself but need a clue where to start. I do have a Mantis drive if needed.
