Suggesting some additions to the ship customization system.

One of my favourite things to do when I'm not mining, exploring, or trying to not get killed, is mess about with my ship configurations. From selecting a frame to trying to keep the assembly from going into the red, and simply to adjusting the parts to make my ship look good.

I feel there are a few features missing from this last part, and it'd be cool if we could have additional options while customising our ships.

Primarily, I'd like for there to be a way to rotate parts as well as resizing and repositioning them. Sometimes I look at parts and think "... Y'know, that would look pretty cool if I flipped these wings upside down, and maybe make this fuel tank go across the ship rather than along it." So, being able to rotate parts as well as resize and reposition them might be neat.

One of the other things I'd like to see would be the ability to modify the frame's attributes. I just think it'd be fun to make your ship look smaller or bigger than normal. :D

It's not the be-all-and-end-all of the game for me, it's just something that I think would look pretty neat if it were to be implemented.

One thing that I would like would be to use my weapons slots for whatever weapons I wanted - ie: two cannon instead of a cannon and a beam weapon! Hmmm - maybe you can, I've never tried it.

Actually, that sounds like a pretty neat idea. I'd love to be able to do that. Dual Banshees would be pretty formidable. (Even better, using weapon slots for non-combat tools. Equip additional mining/tractor beams to make your mining operations quicker and by proxy more profitable! With the trade-off being that you can't fight (unless you're in a Striker frame or better and have excals. :p)

This is a Great Idea to be able to modify your ship to that extend. Making the ship smaller or bigger however can be done a little bit with scaling in the ship yard.

The Idea of whatever weapons in the 2 Weapons slot has already been discussed in the forum and turned down. To keep the balance in the game. And therefore you can not have two Banshee cannons installed.;)

AFAIK, you cannot install two pieces of the same equipment kind.

It would be neat to have a predator outfitted for a suicide mission with dual banshee, dual weapons capacitor, shield booster and dual repariring system.

Can you imagine if you could install eight Excaliburs that fire Exodus regenerative missiles and you could fire them all at once. Woaaaa........64 regenerative Exodus missiles! LOL :P:P:P:P:P

Actually, one thing would be neat would be a missile that you fire that then splits into smaller missiles, like a cluster missile. It would just look cool, and probably cost a lot.

^_^

As for customization, I agree that it would be cool to mess with the frame: make it longer, shorter, or whatever...

However, I'd be more interested in custom cockpit art for each frame, so that when you climb into a new ship, it actually feels like a new ship.

i'd just like to be able to rotate parts, have engines that are one abouve the other, not side by side & wingas that look like sails ect

Now take that, and replace "Exodus missiles" with "Fulcrum Torpedoes" and you have yourself a surefire way of clearing those pesky asteroids. Along with most anything else in the system.

I had thought of that but that would be over kill and Romulan
would have a hard time trying to cloack and hide when some one with one of those was around protecting the new players. We do not want to give Romulan to much of a chalange. LOL :P:P:P:P:P

Weapon slots may remain the same but I want to change my weapons in-flight. Keep them in your cargo bay and use them without docking a station would be awesome!

:cool: If you could change weapons while in space, you'd either need a competent weapons officer or have the possibility of a weapon malfunction ... maybe a really bad malfunction ... the kind that blows up your ship.

It will be a bit unrealistig to be able to switch hardpoints load in flight, while stacking shields boosters or cannon relay systems seems not.

Even repair systems could be realistically stacked and a pair of particle cannons fitted in the weapons slot as twins seems feasible too.

Unrealistic? Guys, simple mechanic issue, year is 2500-3000!

I'd like to be able to rotate the wings. While we're at it, I'd like to also have a scaleable frame.
