cargo question

hi, i just started playing (haven't got round to going online yet), i've been mining a lot, and was just wondering if there was any way to move units of cargo from one bay to another? e.g. move a unit of platinum from my first cargo hold to my second...

Hello ryuu, yes you can but I believe you have to be docked at a station. Others will be along who may have a more complete answer. welcome to the forum and the Sim. See you out there sometime.

I do not think you can move from first cargo bay to second. Cargo bays get filled up in order from 1 to 5.
But with new version you can move or combine cargo from a higher number slot to a lower number slot. If you have 23 units of platinum in cargo bay 1 and 2 units in cargo bay 2, you can add the 2 units to cargo bay 1.
I never tried it though. Vice might be better to explain how to do it. I think there is a post about the new version of how to combine the cargo in this way.

Found it.

To consolidate commodity cargo, dock at a station or city and use the ALT key with either the left or right mouse button. Left click to combine matching commodities up to the limit of 25 per cargo bay. Right click to transfer one unit at a time.

Aye you can. Instead of left clicking to sell your cargo items you right click, to do them one at a time. Leave just one item of, say Platinum, in each of your cargo bays, and, when you start mining a roid your ship will only load plat.

Go out to Lost Rucker and all the roids are solid plat!

Yep there are several places where you can get unlimited amount of just platinum no need to filter them.

lost Rucker hehe, i been mining in alpha centauri, so it's not too far XD selling stuff in pearl may be a problem though, considering my ship is terrible for anything but mining. guess i'll have to make a longer trip to sell in one of the slightly less aggressive systems... e.g. AC

maybe rucker isn't the best place to mine, i flew out of the station and suddenly i had 6 crafts on me, all of which fired a missile, i nearly survived aswell lol, first two missiles i took out with countermesures, third and fourth i shot down before promptly taking down one of the enemy ships, then i missed the fith missile and had my sheilds taken out before the 6th hit me from the side blowing my ship to kingdom come lol, guess i'll stick to mining in alpha C and filter my mining. atleast that way the enemy ships only try to kill me in 1s and 2s

If you can find the hidden gate to Lost Rucker, then there it is safer then Rucker I believe. Since not many enemy AI's know where Lost Rucker is or how to get there.

I don't know if that sort of information is published on the forum, but if you go into MultiPlayer, someone will surely tell you the location of the Lost Rucker Gate. That's how I "found" it. Then you can rack up your cash really quickly with the platinum! You can also find Fulcrum Torpedos which sell for high prices (I'm talking millions!) in other hidden systems, as well as other goodies.

If you don't want to venture into MP (but I do reccommend it cos it's much more fun!) then you can hire a science officer and jump from sector to sector in Rucker until he detects the lost gate.

hire science officer, fly around, he points out a wormhole, now i'm lost in deep space
