I was away for a few months, and when I came back, noticed that there are no servers for renegades. Even DS9 is offline ((( ...shame.... great game, but little support, everybody migrated to Legends now I guess, leaving us with Renegades alone.
What happend to DS9? Did Mike migrated to legends too?
Tried to create server through hamachi myself but didn`t succeed. Anybody with experience please respond. Everything is as it should be, every other game works fine, me and my friend pinging each other, but server always says its full.
DS9 is now Babylon5 and a Legends server. To run a Renegades server, make sure you open/forward the needed ports, otherwise clients won't be able to connect to you.
but I think when using hamachi no need for opening ports, cause it creates tunnel through its already preset ports. We managed to ping server pc, but program refuses connection....this is the best we got so far. Tried also static IP and no hamachi with opened ports but again nothing. We play AOM, Freelancer, and few other games with no problem at all.

Well, there's nothing wierd or unusual with this multiplayer system. Just need those ports accessible to the outside world for it to work. Some routers need to be reset after changes are made for them to apply. You may also have a firewall in place at one or more points.
problem is that I cannot forward range of ports, just single port at a time, its limitation of modems firmware or so I think, and already have dozen ports already open, ant its port forward table says its full when reach about 20 opened ports.... Modem is huawei MT 882.

I plan on getting a new desktop in December and will try to turn my old XP into a Renegades server. It's a long time to wait but that's the plan as of now. Hope someone can jump in at least till then.:(:)

I lost idea what to do more, server wont pass from my home to my work PC....
It just worked few months ago, and now not....
Guess I`ll wait december for renegades... and if my stupid country enters PayPal from next year, I`ll see you in Legends... if not, I`ll join youz when I find way to transfer money form here, and that will be the time when Vice finish next sequel of evochron and you will all migrate to Legends 2, ))))))))
tried with and without hamachi... Interesting thing is that I monitor my work from house pc with geovision surveilance system with no problem, and I think if video stream is passing router, ER esrver should too.... I think maybe its because of version of ER serv. Last one before this 1.988, was I think 1.088 which worked fine...
Uninstalled AVIRA and got connected, installed NOD32 (cracked 2.70.39) works for now, but I`ll see other games (I know that NOD32 cause Crysis to crash if you don`t disable IMON), but if I have to choose between Crysis and ER, vote goes for ER )))))))

I agree, beyond that relying upon cracked AV software isn't the smartest thing to do, many AV companies out there wont update to cracked software, even though the end user may think they are, this also applies to legal software thats subscription thats ended.

If you get a server up let me know and I will try to join you on-line as I still have my Renegades Sim loaded also.

I couldn't wait till December so I bought a new desk top today. It will take some time for me to get it set up and transfer all my info from my old to the new, but when I am done I will see about setting my old desktop (2.4Ghz) up as a Renegades server. I will need help with that (lol) so stand by. I will have both computers hard wired to my router so I hope that will work. We have at&t high speed (sort of (lol)) dsl. :(;)

I do not think you have to. But if you do not run with security disabled then you probably have to supply an IP address and password for players to join. And it also depends on what kind of security your talking about.
