I have 2. here is one of mine you can use. I think there are only a few players that use the profile editor for their X52 the others use the ingame asignments! That is what I used in the beginning. And some players want to keep their profile editor key asignments secret so their opponents in the game will not be able to use it against them. Because they might be able to find your weak spot in programming and then program theirs to attack your weak programming spots in multiplayer!;)

My profile is for X45 and I have been told, on an older driver and can't be used with newer drivers.

I have an X45 and I'm not using any really earth shattering setup but I can tell you that I've got the pinky shift set as my IDS toggle and my throttle fire button as the afterburners. This works well to let me switch easily back and forth between the different modes and keep good control of the ship.

I tried to set one of the wheel axis' on the throttle to a directional setting which would input the [ and ] keys to allow me to adjust the energy to weapons and shields with a nice dial effect. In theory it should work but for some reason it does nothing in the game. The profile test shows it working but nada in game. Any thoughts?

Using bands does not work as you need to be able to reverse the settings to back the other way. If I set up 10 bands with the first five the "[" and the second five the "]" I'll be able to shift energy all the way to sheilds but by moving the axis all the way the other direction I'd only get back to neutral and would have to slide the axis back to center again to move energy to weapons.

With directional control the control sends the "[" keypress whenever I move the axis left and a "]" when ever I move it right which would work to allow me to precisely control the setting.

It's moot however as something somewhere is preventing the game from recognizing the input from the directional setting.

The Shield/Energy setting has 11 distinct positions it is not gradual. You do not have a setting of 1.5 or 2.25 etc... . You have 5, 4 , 3, 2, 1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 so you would need 11 bands, but that is besides the point. The problem is reversing without activating the Keypress again in the 5 bands you have to cross to get back to neutral. So you would need 13 Bands 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, ] Return to zero repeat or delay assigned, 0, [ Return to zero repeat or delay assigned, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And even this might not work due to activation of keypresses upon your reverse to neutral or opposite direction. You could program one of the buttons to go up a certain amount of keypresses and in the opposite direction down a number of keypresses. I have set my wheel mouse button on throttle control of my Saitek X52 to do this.;)

You hit the nail right on the head Maarschalk. And the solution is right there in the way the "directional" option works. I've set it up and in the test mode it works perfectly. As I move the axis all the way to the left the controller registers 5 presses of "[". When I start to move it back to center the controller registers 5 more "]" which brings me right back to neutral when the axis is centered.

Unfortunately, as I said, something gets blocked somewhere and those key presses aren't picked up inside the game.

I tested it out trying to assign rotary dial to Shields/Energy. It does not work because there is a conflict of key assignment between in game programming of keys and Saiteks controller assignment. The Rotary dials are assigned to Axis in game and if you choose no Axis control then the control is from the Keyboard and since the two [] buttons work differently then a regular key press, the only way to use them is to assign them to a button function of a controler stick or assign bands to the rotary. ;)

Using bands does work, and works very well, just ask those that have fought against me. Both of my rotaries, slider, and mini-stick have bands which has greatly increased some functions.

When setting up bands for power distribution you can only create a setup with 3 bands; this is a game engine limitation, not a programming one. The center band should be clear (set to "do nothing") with the other two bands set for [ and ]. Power distribution is designed in the game to be changed only by single increments.
OK, I will try that out. But will this allow you to se the energy to weapons or shield by increments or is it going to give you an all or nothing effect? I'm confused as to how it's going to recognize that if I roll the rotary part way I want only part of the energy transfered (say +3 or so)? And when I roll it back won't I have to go past center to get it to start moving back the other way?

Use it like a switch turn to activate and stop when it hits the amount u need. Ill post mine so u can try it out, Im not afraid of my profile being used against me LOL

I see now. I tried it out and found that it did work as you described as an on/off switch. I guess that will suffice but I was really hoping that the directional thing would work because that would be much better suited for this function.

He was trying to use one of the rotary dials set to Directional Axis in his profile editor to control his energy settings.
For the X52 you can assign buttons and dials in profile editor in several ways. You can set it as bands or as a Directional Axis or Fallback or Unprogrammed. And then you can assign key presses to the bands or Directional Axis.;)

Nope, stuck! No idea what I am to do with the profiles I have downloaded. The extensions of these profiles are .pr0, but the SST is looking for .dat files.
