Auto Pilot docking

Post by Flex »

Is there away to auto pilot docking on planets or stations via nav window or any other method? Or is it all manual?

I have tried to lan on plants via jumping. The last thing I saw aside from previous craters that I made, is my a$$ going threw my head.....
If it works, take it apart, and find out why....

Jumping directly to planet cities is possible, but it's not an easy maneuver. Takes a lot of practice and fine tuning.

Most flight maneuvers require you to play the game, although you can automate some things for simplicity. For stations, right click on their icon on the nav map rather than left clicking. This plots a waypoint directly into the station's hangar. Keep your pitch at 0 and you can jump right into the hangar. If you're level enough with the station, you can also engage the autopilot and it will take you in at cruise speed.

also, turn off the IDS before jumping to the station via the right-click.... that way, you'll just coast right in on your jump momentum (and can make any fine tuning adjustments up/down/right/left with thrusters)

Yes, do not put your pitch under any circumstances to -90 degrees while jumping to dock. You might end up as Kebab lodged on the sharp top end spike of the Station! ROFL! :P:P:P:P:P

I'm ok on the stations but not doing so well on the Planets - managed to get down to the planet but then I can't find the station - any easy way of finding it?

Stay high just outside the atmosphere, and when you see Red guiding brackets fly towards the source but stay high till they turn Green then descent in to the atmosphere towards the flashing beacon in the middle of the Green guiding brackets but keep your speed below 1200 and your shields up till docked. The Cities with docking stations are marked on your Nav Map with green plusses. ;)

:o Usually, you'll see the "flight path" markers (guiding brackets) for the primary city before you'll see markers for any of the others ... even if you're heading (via waypoint) directly for a secondary city. Don't get suckered into changing course ... look for the small, blinking light. It usually shows up long before you can see the rest of the city.
