X52 pro MFD customization

Post by alpha45 »

I've been using the X52 pro for a while now, and I really want to be able to be able to customize the MFD, and have the lights change color to represent different situations. I would make an MFD profile myself, but I don't know anything about programming. If anyone has a good profile, please post them here. Also, to anyone planning to make a profile from scratch, here are some of my ideas:

-Having the MFD display your current coordinates (so you can check then quickly without opening the map console)
-The LED on the directional buttons near the missile launch button turning red when shields are down (its the one i use for adjusting shield power)
-When a missile is locked on to you, have some of the lights on the stick flash red
-Making ALL the lights start flashing red when the ship is heavily damaged
-When stealthed, all lights gradually fade untill they are very weak or turned off completely (to enhance the feeling of being hidden in the darkness)

Please help me out guys. Both the saitek forums and google haven't turned anything up. Thanks in advance!

For coordinates on the HUD, you can modify the "hudtext.dat" file. Mine looks like this:
1
0
200
255
0
1
447
127
1
173
137
Putting my current coordinates in the upper-left corner.

LOL@Marvin, He is talking about the Multi Function Display on his X52 Pro Throtle controller my friend! :P:P:P:P:P

Sorry alpha45, can not help you there. I have the regular X52. You might be the only one with an X52 Pro in Evochron Legends at the moment.;)

 I assume this is the photo you're talking about:

And it's the little LCD screen in the middle that you want to modify?

Note: The above image is a direct link to/from the website listed by alpha45.

Edit: Changed "LED" (light emitting diode) to "LCD" (lead crystal display).

If there's nothing on Saitek's forums about customizing the MFD, then there likely isn't a way to do it, at least not easily. I've messed around with my x52 (not pro) stick and the control customization app that came with it, and there's not anything in it that will enable tying game-specific events to the MFD that I've seen.

Actually, theres an SDK that comes with the drivers. You can use this app to create an MFD plugin for any game you want. The screen is capable of displaying any info you want it to show (coords, health, speed, altitude, etc) and the buttons all have lights that can be switched between three colors, green, yellow, red. The MFD plugin can also change these colors in-game. So like I said above, you can make them all flash red if your ship is critically damaged. The system already has one of these built in (the missile launch button turns from green to red when the safety cover is removed). But the plugin allows it to directly interact with the game. You can find the SDK in the folder you installed the SST in, in a folder called DirectOutput. People who have made plugins for other games say its easy, as long as you are good at C++.

Interesting. I haven't messed with the SDK. I'll dig around in there if I get a chance this weekend.

The Regular X52 does not have a DirectOutput Folder as far as I can tell. I think the X52 has more customization options then the regular X52.;)

You're right. Only the X52 Pro is capable of pulling info from the game and showing it on the MFD, as well as changing the light colors. The regular x52 doesn't come with the SDK, because there wouldn't be any point.

Well, crud. I have the "amateur" version of the x52, so I won't be able to test any of that out. :(
