Hello, all. Just made my PayPal payment for Evochron Legends, and figured while I waited for the key to show up, I'd drop in and say hi.
I can't believe I haven't come across StarWraith stuff before now. I used to be a major X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, and Wing Commander: Privateer junkie, so I really should have found this stuff sooner.
Anyway, I'll be swinging by ol' Best Buy to pick up a new Saitek X52 after work today, so if anyone has some good profiles for it, feel free to PM me with them.
Welcome to Evochron Legends and the forums! I look forward to seeing you in MP. I'm sure others will drop by to say hello and offer you advice for your X52.
Shoulda got an X45...
Nawww that's Ok, many pilots use the X52.
Just put everything that's stick related on the joy stick and every thing that's speed or location related on the throttle. Have fun!

Hello and welcome. For my game, I don't use the SST software and just bind what I want in-game. Some players can easily keep track of 3 different modes of 30+ buttons each, I stick to one I generally use this type of layout:
Left/Right = Yaw
Up/Down = Pitch
Twist Left/Right = Roll
Trigger = Primary Weapon(s)
'Fire' = Missiles
HAT/POV1 = View control
HAT/POV2 = Shield control
C = Reverse thrust
A = Nearest Hostile
B = Next Ship
Pinky Trigger = Afterburner
Throttle Axis = Throttle
D = Countermeasures
E = IDS On/Off
Throttle HAT/POV = Strafe thrusters
Rotary Dials = Sometimes used for variable strafe thruster control
Ok, I've had this thing installed since Friday night, and got my new X52 (which I had to take back and exchange Saturday morning, since the one I picked up after work drifted like crazy--must have been a floor model that got re-boxed; damn you, Best Buy!), and now I have one thing to say to Vice:
I hate you. I haven't slept most of the weekend, and my wife misses me.
Seriously, this is a great game and I'm really happy. Best 25 bucks I've ever spent on a game. (Not going to include the cost of the joystick since, at least theoretically, I can use it for other games...like I'll ever play other games now.)
Valander, that "drift" may not have been from a bad controller and it may happen again.
If it does happen again, just unplug it & plug it back. Don't know why it does that, but most of us have learned what to do when it does!

I thought the drift might have been a dead zone, and I messed around with those settings. But trust me, it wasn't due to that--it was definitely a defective stick. Even in the calibration window, it would occasionally be fine, then with nothing touching it jump all over the place and "vibrate". I also noticed it would grab on the spring somewhat when going to the left. Either way, new stick is far tighter and feels much better, and isn't generating so much "noise" in its signal as far as I can tell.
Now if I could just stop jumping in too close to planets...
Had same problem to, had to unplug once in awhile the X52 and plug it back in. But then I set the Deadzones very narrow (I did not have any set before) and that stopped the drifting.

Remember, you can also map the joystick not to make sense at all and laugh at it making no sense at all while slamming into an asteroid.
