Fuel for military ship to expensive!

Fuel costs do increase at an unbalanced rate with higher skill ratings/ranks relative to contract pay. So this will be adjusted in the next update. The increase will be tapered at ranks above 'Advanced' and will be capped by the time you reach 'Legend'. This will help keep fuel costs in line with contract pay (but don't forget to work on objectives outside of contracts for better pay). As a gameplay tip, also remember that contracts in more hostile systems often pay much better than just taking on jobs in more friendly space (war zones are great for battling Vonari and for high action combat, but the pay can be marginal at best). As you increase in rank and reputation, you should be able to manage more challenging (hostile) areas of space and that's where the higher paying contracts generally are (particularly in systems with higher economy ratings).

I was tempted to comment this morning (about... I dunno 14 hours ago maybe)... decided to "sleep on it". Until I saw that post, I had no comments, it wasn't an issue. It still isn't a BIG issue.

I was always assuming of course that fuel prices vary according to region, and probably system reputation. I NEVER noticed if they increased with increasing ranks and ratings.

I have no (personal) problem with it... but...

I started over w/ 1.108, did both beacon quests, I've been thru all the mainstream systems (not deep space systems yet), cleared all reps to "good" except for Aries (I am keeping that one swinging from Fair to Moderate and back again). Paying for fuel was never a problem...

Currently I am in the War Zones, strictly doing military contracts for now. I make enough to cover the cost of fuel...

BUT if fuel price increases with increasing rating and rank, that just doesn't make sense... from a simulation standpoint. The players in the game are considered "free agents"... private customers. Or "free contractors".

Imagine a service station, and a car pulls up... a young couple just starting their own, say, carpentry business are buying gasoline. Or a new, apprentice bounty hunter. Or the county's new Sheriff's deputy... or someone who just moved in, and they are stationed at the local military base as a junior staff assistant. Would they be charged LESS than a local banker, a certain famous Bail Enforcement Officer, the local Sheriff himself, or the military base commander?

Apply that to the local small airport... let's say that all of those people just happen to have flying licenses. Or the marina out at the lake... they all have small boats, but the price they pay is different based on "social status and accomplishments"?

Or maybe they are ALL mercenaries (even the carpenter and banker), leading double lives, they all have their own military equipment... maybe an APC, a small aircraft or two... maybe, say, a small force of 4 people working for them... they hop from region to region "doing things". Fuel prices are going to vary according to their rank and ratings?

=====

I was also tempted before to mention this about Station Licenses. Actually I CAN make a case for the price of licenses being based IN PART on one's current account (or rank / ratings) (and the rest due to other factors that are obvious and logical). That is, I can see local systems doing some "price gouging" when "giving permission" to park there, do business, etc... based on one's account, reputation and ratings. Not fuel though... not on fuel as a *general principle*.

It still seemed a little inconsistant with a simulation... that is there is a tendancy in the game in some things to : "...charge more if the player has a higher rank, ratings, or a big bank account..." as a general principle, rather than to base things on consistancy or what might be "real-world".

No big deal though, as I said I *can* imagine that Station Licenses will vary as they do. The fuel thing is a little bothersome.

Good points Storm that is excactly what I was trying to point out about the fuel. And you said it very well a little bothersome, but if you have a lot of credits like me then it becomes a little bit annoying!
and because it is a game it is not a big deal. But what if this applied to the real world whith the current economy! LOL
