Fuel for military ship to expensive!
I think fuel for military ships when flying military missions should be free at military stations in the warzones.
I do not think a military pilot or any military craft operator in real life pays for their crafts fuel!
Now in military warzones I pay around 1100 per unit of fuel and for a mission that pays 177,000 you use about 200 or more units of fuel that will cost you about 220,000 in fuel! So your loss is about 53,000 credits!
Since the military can convert fuel for free with fuel converters
they should be able to supply it for free to their pilots!
Yes you can get fuel for free yourself with a military ship if you have a tractor/mining beam and fuel converter but you loose 2 equipment slots that you might need to get an advantage in combat!:(
I know it is just a game, but I like more realistic approaches!

You invest a fortune of your own money to buy a ship, and pay aditional money for every mission you fly in fuel, ordinance, repairs, just so you have the priviledge of risking your life.

I remember the story of Huck Finn, who tricks other kids in the neighborhood to pay him for the priviledge of white washing a fence. He kicks back in the shade of a tree and counts his money, while the kids do all his work.

I use after burners a lot to speed back up to target after dirfting on inertia at 4k past target! And in multiplayer it happens a lot that some Vonari's jump away and you have to hunt them down. The other time I spent about 150 on fuel hunting down 3 Vonari's that had escaped before mission got completed!Originally posted by Eclipse
The only times I use 200 in fuel are on the four waypoint and longer contract/missions.
Using 200 in fuel for a single way point is odd to me.

And I have about 4,300,000,000 credits.
But this amount on one profile has dropped to almost 4,000,000,000 credits doing military missions in warzones just in fuel costs!:(

Seems only fair that if you're in a military ship and dock at a military station in the war zone, you get free fuel, free repairs, and free missiles.
Of course, in the military, you don't own anything. You get paid a set salary ... usually in the thousands (not millions) of credits. They assign a ship (meaning, your Evoc-C can be replaced, without compensation to you, with a lesser military craft) and determine your weapons loadout (meaning, they can replace that Excal pack with a "suitable substitute").
I've never been a mercenary so you'll have to go ask Blackwater what kind of compensation they get. But I suspect that, if you want free fuel, it must be in written into your contract.

Uhm I think the reasoning behind this is that technically you are not in the military. You are still a mercenary for hire. You are a contractor of sorts. If you were actually IN the military you wouldn't even have to buy your ship because it would be supplied as would everything else. But because you're not actually in the military and are a mercenary those are just your own costs you have to wear it basically.
Personally I think it's rather odd that we gain rank... yet aren't actually in the military. I've said it in other threads... In the world today you don't really get the option of half-heartedly being in military service. You either are or aren't. The closest thing in real life to what we do in EL is private sector subcontractors for the military. But even they are employed by companies and they aren't active front line service anyway.

Well - "it isn't real life, it's a fictional universe", so who can say what might come about?
I've posted on this before... and yes, I got some of the terminology wrong... but historically, mercenary / "contractors" were often given military (honorary) titles. Their "payment" was usually the spoils of war from the broken ships of an enemy country, sure... basically they were *sometimes* not much different than "sanctioned pirates". But who wants a crate of "Vonari Ale" as a prize, anyway (probably tastes like ....)?
I think a rank, even honorary, of "Fleet Admiral" is a little far fetched, but no big deal. "The Cause" is apparantly important enough for the military to hire mercenaries, pay them, and give them titles. They bring their OWN ships to the party... as a bonus, they allow "us" to buy military ships after we have proven ourselves. Budgets being what they are, the Command Posts have to charge for fuel. It probably WOULD come at a high price there.

I agree with you Marvin, but since you are not paid a fixed salary, I think paying for fuel and repairs is the players responsibilty.
In short, you fly a mission for the military, in a military ship, they should give you a free loadout, which means free missiles.

Keep in mind, if you want the military to provide you with free munitions, you take what they give you. Ergo, you can probably kiss off those high-powered cannons and your favorite missiles. If you're lucky, they'll at least reimburse you for the trade-off.

I don't mind paying for my own missiles, but it can be somewhat aggravating that the station runs out of missiles. I hate using Excals, but I sometimes have to because the station runs out of Exodus or Starfire missiles. This is a warzone, you'd think that replenishments would be often. And jumping out of sector and back in to reset the station is not a long-term solution. Maybe something to adjust in an update?

But if a military outpost never ran out of things wars might never end or the out come might change. Ask the Germany Tank commanders about supplies.Originally posted by Accountant

Very true, but the fact that we can "reset" the station by jumping out of the sector and back in kind of nullifies that argument. The supplies are there, we just can't access them until we leave and return 30 seconds later.
And besides that, this is a game. Some things just aren't meant to be simulated. I'm here to provide myself with entertainment, not the added stress of dealing with failing supply lines

On Fuel, I just did a one leg contract with my Leviathan and crew. I know each ship and pilot will be different so no two will get the same results. I did a 170,000 contract and after paying crew and refueling I cleared 98,000. I am a VERY Conservative pilot when use of after burners and I coast a lot so I can see a pilot going through a lot of fuel if they are heavy footed (or fingered ,LOL). Best flying to all.

And I do not think any military craft operator would pay more for fuel than he gets paid for contract. Specialy as a Mercenary who sees any contract opportunity as a bussiness, military or not. Bussiness wise it does not make sense, military wise it does not make sense, and game wise for entertainment it does not make sense!
It is just annoying that you work hard doing a good job and you loose in credits and entertainment fun! This is a game and you do not really sacrifice anything to save the Real World!

I once made it from one side of Sapphire to the station, around the curvature of the planet, on 3 fuel.
So either you guys are just throwing out fuel, because I can only remember a single instance in which I used 150+ fuel in a mission or in a single combat.

11,200,000,000(11.2 billion) in credits and now I'm paying 2,450 credits per unit of fuel so that is 490,000 credits for 200 units of fuel! Which is more than you get paid for many high waypoint missions! and forget about putting things in storage while doing military missions which cost me another 540,000 credits at stations I have bought licenses at! I thought if you buy a license(ownership) that storage would be free at those stations!:mad::mad:
