C'mon guys!Pretty quick to shoot it down!Freespace 2 didn't have proper cockpit mode and was pretty awesome!

I like the feel of sitting in a cockpit, I never liked the feel of remote controlling like first person view!;)

Actually I'm not a cockpit person, by then we'll all have our visuall inputs direct to the brain, so I'll have more protection than a layer of plexi glass.

I do like the option to have one though.

I posted on their forums, and the big killer for me at the moment is the fact there will be no support for mods or support modules

Yup..... have to agree the cockpit is a must, That's why I love Renegades and Legends. it makes it feel more realistic. :cool:

Looks like fun. The idea of simply blasting away at asteroids in such a format for such purposes certainly appeals to me :) The asteroid modelling in the second part of the preview video looks fantastic.

:cool: Without a cockpit, it's "Ender's Game" pure and simple. Maybe somebody ought to develop a space game where the player is supposed to be sitting in a room, away from the action, controlling an armada of ships.

my name is Marek Rosa and I am Miner War's developer.

I want to thank you that you are discussing "cockpit" topic.

It is one things that we are not sure if it is needed or not. My own opinion is that cockpit interior obstructs view so it is better to not have it.

But as I have found, there are people who WANT IT.

So what do you think? Is it 50/50? Or should we made it as an option? (cockpit visible on or off)? Or 100% mandatory?

Yes, defenitely cockpit with Track IR, that is why I love Evochron Legends! I can look around with Track IR, and there are different cockpits available for it so that view obstruction is not that big of a problem!;););)

The cockpit is what helps create immersion in the game. Nothing seems more real than looking out your window and blasting the enemy. You could make it optional if it's not a lot of coding, but cockpit/hud comes first!:D

Just as an opinion, it'd be cool to have as an option. You could leave it off by default if that's your preferred approach, then just have a view mode or checkbox if the player wants to see the cockpit.

I don't use the cockpit myself, but I do think that for many people its a make or break situation ( for myself I'd prefer no cockpit, and not having a cockpit would be an issue).

Think of racing games, 3 modes, in-car , just outside car, above car, I think these apply even though its a a different genre
