What sector is closest to Sapphire (start sector) where ships above Raven and lvl 4 equipment can be bought?

thanks, did get to the first station there, but kept getting shot while docked. Guess I will have to buy a station license so I can least be safe while docked.

a good call, you should find a nice profitable ( and short ) trade route , if you can get to/from the thuban station/gate easily.

I have checked Thuban station, Thuban Research, and outpost 4 in Thuban, highest ship is Raven, looking for next 2 or 3 ships: Striker, Phoenix, Hunter. Where can I find these, closest to Sapphire?

You'll have to go higher up and in ever increasing danger to find those ship hulls.
A point to ponder: Buying a station licence may keep the "reds" out, but they will be waiting for you like a swarm of angry bees when you leave the station!:o
