Vice, would it be possible to you to fix the problem with zooming into the nav map in the next update? Sometimes you try to zoom it, and it just zooms in on centre rather than where the mouse is pointing. It's very annoying... n I just spent 30 mins trying to explain to a friend who has just purchased the game, and was having trouble with getting to a station he couldn't right click on because of this bug.

It happens to me, a lot. And however you put it, a bug, an anomaly, a glitch... it's not working at 100%. So... it's a bug and should be squashed mercilessly.

It works fine like Vice says, your looking at a flat paper representation of a 3d space. So you have to make sure your right clicking on the right sector before zooming in flip the map from top to rear view to make sure where you are clicking!;)

We can always dream, but a 3D representation of the map with scroll wheel zooming would be very neat. (something like SoaSE (sins of a solar empire) has). However, i'm not sure if it really would make it easier to navigate. In such map it is very hard to keep a reference point.

Vice has been used kinda 3d map in Rift Space (free game). I talked to Eclipse about this 3 days ago. He said to me, I checked it up, looks fine.

Ahhh Sins of the Solar Empires...

Great game.
The map is good on it! I don't even bother posting this anymore, I get denied too much - and then I never see other "Suggestion thread" I can post to - so I just put it in Evochron legends one.......

There have been discussions on the map before, one of the issues is keeping it simple and usable at the same time. I'd love to see a 3d map, but it would have to be as functional as it is currently........

I guess it keeps coming up for discussion because it is 'fiddly'. I've gotten kind a used to it now but I guess a 3D map is the only way to go to get around the problems. I suppose it detracts from the atmosphere as well because you just know that if you were actually flying around in a real spaceship, there would be a hell of lot more comprehensive navigation UI going on!

To be honest, I would love the map to feel a bit more smooth, but besides that I pretty much love the functionality. A 3D map would probably just add aesthetics at the cost of functionality.

A 3D map wouldn't help with that, would it now? What would help is the proposition of a (more) full screen map. A 3D map would only complicate things, having to rotate to find certain things.

What I'd love is to have things that are outside 'zoom range' (so at sY -1, for example) to be dimmed, but visible.

Well, I think a 3d map would be great... but I tend to think it's as Ecls (Lips) lol says. I've just not thought of that beforel. Of course there is a downside to a 3d map, if as vice says somethings are not visible in Y axis, n flipping shows them, then that can be a good thing as it allows vice to hide something, easily, tho I'm sure he has better ways to hide stuff. lol... personally, I'd like to see a rollable/twistable 3D map. Maybe we should add a poll on it. lol... ahh hell I'll do it. lol Who wants to see a 3D map. lol.

Object text nicely shows the sector coordinates, including the SY value of a particular object except log markers.
Not if you're fully zoomed at sY 0 and an object is at sY -1, unless I've missed something.
