Going to Sol....

Post by Koranis »

I was looking for some info on how to reach the Sol system on these forums, but everytime the Sol is mentioned, the people are already there!

I got to Alpha Centauri system. Since then I was jumping like a rabbit all over the place looking for some hidden jumpgate.

Nothing. I gave up and began a long trip home. Fulcrum drive C4. Fuel tanks C3. What do you say, am I going to get there? I mean, not after 57 years in hypersleep, drifting like a dead brick?

Whew, I do not envy you doing that in a C4 fulcrum. C3 tanks also sound a little small for the job. I consider a 1600-2000 fuel tank to be about right right size. Oh, and if you leave from Sirius, it is a shorter trip.

So there's no other way?

How is it possibile that the Alliance filled Evochron with jumpgates but forgot to link the sector with the most important system: the Homesystem! Is there any good reason for it I still need to discover?

Well, yes... sort of.
The way to Sol was designed to be at the end of the "Quest".
The Quest was designed to give the player an exercise in celestial navifgation and the ability to follow certain clues, which would lead to Sol and provide you with the resources to return.
Granted you can get there other ways, but now you find yourself in a pickle!
A C4 jump drive and that small fuel tanks is likely to leave you floating in deep space.
Other than the obvious, I would recommend you "save" often!:)

There are 2 quests in legends, the 'legends' quest and the old one from renegades ( the 'renegades' quest if you will ). If you've not played renegades you will need to complete the renegades quest to finish the legends quest.

Why do the renegades quest? well simply put if offers several unique benefits, 2 of which are easy access to Sol and to Vonarion.

Since the first beacon of the renegades quest is darn hard to find I'll give you a hint with what it says ( oh its in the sapphire system)

Thanks for the replies, guys.

The first message, the one containing the message from Garrett, belongs to Legends quest or Renegades?

As for the Sol, now everything's clear, but I just wanted to know if there's a plausible explanation why the Alliance didn't connect Sol system with Evochron. Security reasons?

Thats the Legends quest, bear in mind that part of the Legends quest involves completing the renegades quest.

you can tell the difference in that the Legends quest has a story and also requirements to activate each beacon. The renegades quests is a series of clues which leads to the location of where the renegades went ( as an aside the end of the renegades quest does explain the beginning of the Legends quest).
As for the Sol, now everything's clear, but I just wanted to know if there's a plausible explanation why the Alliance didn't connect Sol system with Evochron. Security reasons?
Mainly for security reasons, Evochron is volatile and several different (human) factions have emerged and started conflicts with the Alliance. In regards to the vonari though, they have the technology to jump far greater distances and have threatened earth itself on more than one occasion.

Other good way there if you don't want to do the quest, then go on multiplayer, ask someone for a mantis engine, upgrade your fuel tanks n ask someone to take you to sol... people online are very willing to help with things like that. :)

So the Fulcrum Jump gates are not "hand-made"? You pretty much spoiled that secret to me now!

The Gates are hand made and built around some existing wormholes to stabilize them and where they are stable they do not need gates built around them. This also aplies to wormholes created by the above mentioned device! That is if the created wormhole is stable or not;)

Wait a minute... a wormhole is a one-way ticket or it works in both directions?

Another thing... I got to Sol... I reached the Earth... but.... what the heck is that thing around it? Why I can't land?

p.s. I didn't even start the quest.

Check out the "Is it Possible to Land on Earth" thread in the Rookie Pilots/Newbies Section. We have a very lively discussion on that topic. This may help shed some light on the subject.
