Hello,

is it really worth to hire crew? I don't like the idea to be influenced by their disposition: doing everything fast so that I will be able to earn cash and pay them by the end of the cycle.

Sorry if this question has already been answered.

That's a subjective question :) Depends on how you play and what you want to do. For some, learning the directions of hidden containers, getting a boost in primary weapon efficiency, mining faster, avoiding dangerous jump points, increasing sensor range, and repairing ship damage faster are important enough to hire one or more crew members. If you don't have the wealth, ship capacity, or need for the benefits they provide, then it probably isn't worth hiring them. But many players do seem to keep a highly skilled crew on board much of the time they play as they find value in the small fee paid for the benefits offered. Engineers and weapon specialists are generally the most popular crew members.

I personally fly without Navigator - I prefer to plot 'hot' jumps instead of the minimum safe distance the Navigator sets.

Yes, I'm with tha_rami on this one. Just use the navigator in the beginning till you get to know your way around. And when your ready to experiment with some jump techniques like some direct city jumping from space, you will have to let the Navigator go because he will refuse to follow your orders to break Planet City aproach docking procedures!LOL:P:P:P

You need your crew for exploring.

Navigator says wormhole positions, sometimes he/she saves your day :)

I always keep a fully skilled and fully loal crew aboard.

That got some time to build up but it's worth it IMHO.
Best regards
