Multiplayer Questions
I'm thinking about buying the game and I'm looking for more specific info on multiplayer. One of my all time favorite games was the "Descent" games. How does EL compare to this. Is there deathmatch, team deathmatch, etc? Can you just drop in a game like Quake or do you all launch a game together?

For what I can tell, there is no such feature as deathmach or team deathmach built in game.
You can do as you please in a persistend galaxy including deathmatching with other players in MP. You can set the rules and keep the count.
A tournament has been initiated by Vice himself in this regard.
You can drop in a game in every moment you want. There are servers active any time.... but there is no game as the universe is persistent.
It is more of a RPG in space than a match game.

The only descent game this is close to would be freespace 2. And I'm not sure that qualifies as a descent style game. And then only in the combat sence. EL has so much more to offer than combat.
The multiplayer component is just like the single player game except you have human opponents/allies. You can go deathmatch on each other, participate in races, run missions together, etc. There is no game "mode" for deathmatch or ctf.
If you have not done so, I would highly suggest you play the demo. I had trouble getting started when I first got Renegades (the prequal? to Legends), but once you understand what is happening it's quite fun.
You might also want to check out Arvoch Conflict -

If there is anything I missed or missrepresented,,,I'm sure Vice will step in. :-)
Enjoy!

Buy this game and get your friends to buy it and start your war like clan or squadron!
You can make this your own death match by attacking other ships (human or computer) for no reason. The beauty of this game is you can be part of a community or you can be an outcast and hunted.
If you choose to be an outcast get a military ship.
I think Vice did a great job. The people that play this game are helpful and nice. But you decide peace or war?
