hey all, I know how to travel to different systems in the sapphire system. But, how do you travel to other quadrents? I have not discovered any wormholes or anything like that. Any help would be great! thanks all :)

follow the beacons..........................

most of the game is spent in human space, meaning the evochron quadrent, you can get back to Sol, Visit Vonari space ( or even further) which are all locations outside of the evochron quadrent of space ( yes I know Vonari and Sol both appear on the quadrent map - but thats more a general guidence and to show you they are there.).

Following the beacons will guide you to a place and from there you will find what you are seeking ;)

Or are you referring to sectors for systems outside of Sapphire? If so, use the gates.

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread but i want some clarification .

I understand that jumping around inside a system reveals it's sectors , bases and planets .
What i don't understand is how the hell i am suppose to fly from one system to another without using gates :o

I used 800 units of fuel only for jumpdrive going east-south east of Sapphire only to see empty space , ok i did found a crater (unable to tractor it , dunno why since my cargo bays were empty) and a couple of ships ( 1navy and 2 guilt) but i was unable to follow them .
The map for some reason keeps on showing my position inside Sapphire although i am light years away....and now that i mentioned light years, how much is "1k" distance ?

Yes you will use a lot of fuel going from on system to another as the bird flies and use up a lot of time as in real space travel. The gates save time and fuel but don't go everywhere. A lot of us have spent lots and lots and lots of hours heading out to explore or to get to a far away destination.

To fly from one system to another, you'd need to manually navigate. One of the easier ways to do that is to manually type in the coordinates for the system you want to travel to into the navigation console. That will set the nav marker to that location. Press Alt-F to have the autopilot automatically line up the nose of your ship to that heading or manually turn there. Once lined up, turn off the autopilot, then press Alt-F2 to begin jumping in that direction at maximum range. Keep an eye on your nav console to gauge how close you're getting. You'll need to consider other factors for such a trip as well before you leave, fuel and what type of jump drive you have. A weaker jump drive will take longer to get there, if you run out of fuel, you could find yourself stranded and in need of resuce.

The systems are pretty big, some are 500 sectors away, some can be thousands. You can check the quadrant map for coordinate locations for other charted solar systems.

1K is about 1,000 meters in the game.

Thank you for the great help thetiebers & Vice , long time space travel / exploration is the main reason i bought the game and i was a bit disappointed thinking that there is nothing out there .

500 sectors big eh , although i spent en entire week in Sapphire now it seems that i didn't stayed enough .

I have the 4 level drive and 1200 fuel capacity , hope i can make it

If you mean NavMap -> System;
The Nav Console always indicates your "current system" based on the closest *planet*, even if you are very far away in deep space. You can even be in the "reputation zone" for one generic system ("Orion", "Rigel", etc) but if the *closest planet* happens to be in Lambda, the Nav Console will say that your current system is a Lambda system. Your *system rep*, will always be based on whatever "reputation zone" you are in (NOT the closest planet).

I don't believe there is a limit for that; it doesn't matter if the closest planet is 500 units away or several million units away. I've "cleared" (made friendly) *ALL* of the reputation zones in my game (except for two that are impossible to "clear", one that is exceedingly improbable/difficult to clear (though I did it in Renegades), and one that I am deliberately keeping moderate/fair). I used the opportunities to do several experiments along the way.

(edit)

Possibly just to save you some frustration / confusion along your own "personal journey";

There are a number of "out of the way", "off the beaten path" systems. The LEAST remote (the one closest to a "mainstream system") is about 22 Max Jumps from civilization, the MOST remote is about 100 Max Jumps away from the closest "mainstream system". Just to give you an idea... (I made a chart while doing all of this).

Thank you very much Storm for the extensive info , you save me from hours of meaningless flying ;of course i will try long journeys but with a better drive and more fuel :)

there is an experimental drive that you can find in the game, that goes beyond 5 sectors, that does help a lot:)
