Greetings Starfighters!

Post by Adraussa »

Yeah, I know how cheesy the subject line was, but hey.... I'm a long time geek. :P

First off, I just wanna say... "WOW!!" I'm extremely impressed with the game. I've only downloaded the demo so far, and only got to play for a few minutes, but I'm thrilled to have found such a quality space sim.

I dusted off my Saitek X45 HOTAS and configured it briefly just to test the game out, but I'm definitely going to have to put together a better config for it. Any suggestions are more than welcome here. But, what I really need help with, is an affordable solution for mounting the controllers to a standard office chair.

I've searched the web for hours, and, although I found a couple of really nice options, they were outrageously priced. I know, "build your own", right? But I'm not very handy with woodworking, and I'd like something that looks professional. Anyone seen, or have, anything in the sub-$100 range that would work?

On another note, is there an option somewhere to set the "idle timer" for the mouse cursor. It seems to disappear rather quickly, and I wouldn't mind if it just stayed onscreen at all times.

Also, are there any plans to implement multiple display support where you could possibly have your nav, inventory, trade windows on other monitors? Just a thought....

Thanks,

Adraussa

I have built several "chairs" for the HOTAS and I too, adore the X45, but the price range you suggest is way out of line. A good office chair will cost you $100.00, much less the engineering to make new arms/saddles to hold the controllers.
I might point out that not all office chairs are not practical for conversion.

Welcome to forum and game.

Search in the forum, somewhere in it, there are very valuable infos and photos but your price range is to low for this imo.

Ahhh, but I already have the chair... that's not an issue... all I want is a simple platform that will mount on the arm, or wherever, and have an adjustment or two for positioning.

IMHO if I can buy a stand alone, double braced, fully adjustable, boom cymbal stand for $50, there's no way it should cost over $100 for this. :P Actually, now that I think about it... I could probably rig something up using modified drum mounts... worth looking into!

Thanks,

Yeah, I searched the forum, and the web, and the cockpit builders forums, etc, before I ever asked. If there's anything like what I'm looking for, I can't find it. I did find some REALLY nice mounting systems, that were obviously well thought out, and the guys must be engineers.... but I'm not looking to spend $400+, and I'm not looking for anything that complicated. I could always just bolt plywood platforms to my chair like I used to... I just wanted something with a little more class, and a few less splinters! lol :P

As far as being a drummer... well, I'm trying.... I'm just beginning, but I have a blast with it, and I can keep a decent little 4-4 beat going. Got tons to learn, but I'm constantly improving, and that's keeps me motivated. :D

Thanks,
