in dire need of a map!

hi to all, and congratulations to the devs.

found this game for true serendipity while searching for a particular spice (not space, ooops, mistyping...) in a cooking receipe.

tried it, loved it, bought it. now i'm enjoing this great piece of software.

but yesterday i had clicked on a blue button (that little bastard of a button with the label on it) in the contract section of the trading console, and a unlucky gui boarded my steam-boat and he wanted me to bring him to a station named ... how it was ... alpha something or something alpha.
after searching and searching and searching on the nav console, i tried to jump in some random direction blindly spinning my mouse while pressing alt-f2. found myself in some other portion of space, far beyond y=0, nav map indicates other worlds, other stations, but nothing. every 20 seconds or so that pesky gui i had chained at the back of my seat, lowered the reward, obvioulsy thinking "where in the nine hells are we?". all this until someone jumped in, a ship in red. i shouted "ahrr them be pirates! (spit)" but a flashing ray of light blasted us both in a coloured firework.

so, to make it short i'm in dire need of a star map in ascii, svg, pdf, postscript, eps, bitmap, rgb, tga, iff, tiff, fits, gaps, gosh, gulp or in any other format i can read it.

already searched the forums for more than an hour and found nothing.

please, please, please, help meeeeeeeek!

Welcome to the Game and Forum GAlex, The strategy guide and instructions manual should both have a General Map of the Known Systems. If you get beyond SY=0 coordinates you are out of the Galactic plain or ecliptic there are only few planets and stations or objects out side of the plain, but mostly you should keep your SY=0 or you will find your self terribly lost!:P:P:P

Here's a searchable database of the Evochron system that someone put up. You can search for station, object, planet, whatever.

Well, it is more like a beefed up version of the Universedata.txt file that any one already has access to and which you can search with the find command from the drop down edit window!:P

@Maarschalk: thank you for your wellcome and your kindness. i know of the galactic plane, but wanted to play "lost in space" for a while...

- checked out the resources you said and found many informations worth a second reading.

@berighteous: yesssssss! (but doesn't cheating diverge dramaticaly from your nickname?)

@MMaggio: it should not be used extensively, only in the case you are stuck. it comes in hand when someone ask you to bring him to a destination you are supposed to know how to reach, but is not in your ultimate TomTom. but again it was my fault to take the role of a taxi driver without the driving license.
