Don't have a talon yet, but I am interested. I take it that if fighting is part of it, so is dying. I forsee a FFA. :)

Sounds interesting. I'm definitely in if I can be available on the date/time when the race is held.
-The race is not to the swift,
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise,
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all...

...For death is the destiny of every man;
the living should take this to heart...

I think you should be able to fly whatever ship you want. Otherwise it is a sissy game. If a person wants to fly a Wraith, Evoch, Avenger or Predator who cares. The pilot makes the game so who cares what ship.

This competition is meant for pilots of ALL skill stages... flying the same ship means it will be fair... and the limited weapons also creates a challenge and strategy thinking is required... flying a military ship means you dont die as easily... flying a talon will mean everyone has an equal chance of dying... so if this is sissy... then I dunno what flying a military ship in a race should be called... but it definately not called "tough"

This competition is by no means a point and shoot event... its a race with a small touch of combat... even so... flying a talon in a pvp situation and staying alive requires more skill than you imagine... flying a military ship and unloading packs and packs of excaliburs isnt tough or skilled by any means... limited missiles calls for added realism

I 100% agree and it puts the smallest and weakest, but lightest frame in good use! :)

Just a curiosity, is it expected that we will have to write down the coordinates and replot them as we hit them or is there going to be a quest setup specifically for the race? I've seen that the race server is running, but since no date has been announced, I'm assuming that you're just testing things.

This race will require players to download a few customised files... but ploting course will most unlikely be not needed...

Actually I have been thinking about that... I think being able to quicksave wouldnt affect it too much since it slows you down already anyway...

But we can discuss more... I'd like to know feedback from others too...

Well, assuming the nav points aren't fixed in as a quest (disabling quicksave), I imagine it would make sense that you could only quicksave at a nav. Of course, that means the refs have to watch the death announcements to make sure the respawn is in the right place. All up to how much you want to watch for.

personally I like the concept that if a pilot dies they are out of the race, though I think we should have a few 'legs' like in a rally.
