need easy combat

Where can I go for some wimps to blast? I have taken some combat missions in Olympus and usually die. Are there any with just one opponent?

Yeah, Start your own server but then you will be sitting for hours doing nothing waiting for the next wimp to enter your server!LOL:P:P:P

And if there was only one then when you kill that one then you have nothing else to do!LOL:P:P:P

I admit that combat is hard, and I also admit I also die on occasions, still use the afterburners, and use inertial, plus use missiles

but from what I have experienced so far, things will only get tougher:cool:

If Olympus is to hard for you to survive, I have two questions for you:

1. Did you upgrade your vessel?


2. How do you try to do combat? On IDS or on Inertial flight?

Eh,...and kiss the dream goodbye, to win every fight. This is not Freelancer or Wing Commander.

At the beginning, it is ridiculous to enter a fight with more than 3 enemies. If you are outnumbered like this, run....

I'd probably fly around olympus and try against the occasional red that will appear anyway to build up my skills before taking on any combat contracts.

Combat can seem hard at first, but after a little practice you'll be thumping Vonari in no time!

Ah good sentence to remember in any kind of aerial or space combat, comes from a very famous Airman of WW I, Manfred von Richthofen: "If chances are against me, and I can not win, I run."

Other things to keep in mind are written in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dicta_Boelcke It was written in WWI, but that are groundrules, every fighterpilot in the past, today, and the future will obey,..or die!

Call me crazy, but I didn't think Wing Commander was always that easy. Maybe it's because I started playing it as it came out during my childhood and I only had a beige colored mouse to fly with. On the first game, saving the disabled Ralari destroyer was a pain in the butt. Of course, all games seem to get easier as I get older.

Dunno about Freelancer, don't like it.

That is such a good list, Reading through it they are all still vital rules in Evochron ( some need slight re-wording, but are still essentially valid).

I'm sure that most of the other Elite pilots will recongise that it's adherance to these rules that has given them such an 'elite' consideration.

If you use missiles, make sure they hit! They are expensive, don´t throw them away. One tactic is to let the enemy pass, then turn around quickly and fire them rear aspect. For me, it´s a 90% hit. Don`t fire missiles on incoming enemies, they will shoot it, as you should do also.

Don´t fly between 2 or more ship formation. You will end up in the crossfire. Mostly I start combat engaging the outer wingman, and eat them up one by one. Don´t spread your ammo (energy) all over the area.

Don´t use a tactic to often. Call me mad, but sometimes it feels like AI is countering your tactics, if you repeat it to much.;)

I never run. It's against my principles. I always stand and fight. Which is why I have always died so far. I think we do need some easier enemy AI in the Beginners system to practice on and decide what buttons on your joystick should do what.

You know, this topic has been beat to death for more than 5 years. Every once in a while it pops up again.
Sure, at first, it seems the dreaded reds are everywhere and overwhelming. But within a short time, you'll be clamoring for tougher opponents!
Give the game, yourself, and experience a little more time and the only viable enemy will be another player! And then, only if he is any good!
You think the "reds" are tough! Try taking on Eclipse or Vice one on one! Now that's hard!
I don't mean to slight any of the other excellent players, I just chose those two as examples. I would rather face a horde of reds than face Vice one on one!
Point being, you may think reds are tough now, but later, with experience, upgrades and tactics, you'll think reds are wimps! Trust me on this, I have been there. And most other experienced pilots will tell you the same!

No, you do not need to, you do not have to and you do not want to! You will not have time to run at your highest speed far enough to not see and hear the Explosion! You should not be able to hear any sounds in space but I gues the Explosion of these is so huge that it breaks the sound barier of the vacuum in space! LOL:P:P:P

And if you jump a way to many sectors you may forfeit your contract if you were in the middle of one that is!LOL:P:P:P
