Idea for a new Multi-Player option

An idea that just hit me and would need a lot of fleshing out, but it might be fun to be able to put a contract (a hit) out on another player. Basic idea would go something like this:

For some reason I'd like to see player A get shot down, so I go to my nearby station and put a contract out on player A. I have to surrender the money for the contract to the computer at that point. Any other players checking system information in that system would then see that there is a contract out on Player A for x credits, but not who made the contract.

The first player to destroy Player A after the contract is made is awarded the credits. The person who made the contract can cancel it so long as it has not been paid out yet.

I think this might be fun, simply to get people out looking for other people. It might even be interesting to put a contract out on yourself as a way to judge your skills against others out there without setting up a PVP with specific players.

Anyways, just a thought, it might be fun.

I was considering building a contract system like this for pilots who wanted to use it ( ok it would be on a website rather than in-game), if its wanted I'll do it :) - verbsleagues can already detect whether the contracts has been fullfilled - on participating servers, which would help to avoid conflicts.

The only realy issue I see is with payment, It would be good if there was an 'evochron central bank' to allow for credit transfers without having to meet in-person.

Interesting Idea, but a bit complicated, because the player you put a contract on might not visit a particular system for a long time and contracts are system specific!;)

Ohhhh, fun! Add a whole new eliment to the BA "Hunt List"

Can think a few few pilots (me included) who may end up on that list!

as a person who ran a Freelancer server for 4 years, I think this would just create hate and dissension.

However a central bank that players could deposit money in and then take it out with their other characters would be nice.

yeah I can see how that would happen, I play browser based MMO games ( and make them ), and I see your point with this, personally the bounty listing board I just made will be pulled down If used outside 'fairplay' limits. I have also run a counter-strike server which also had a bounty board function, and it was an awfull lot of fun, but it was a private server - so the people knew what they werre getting into.

No I think it would have to be 'fixed' one profile, one account - otherwise you could cheat ( copy profile - put all the money in, delete, cop the copy, etc etc)

oh yea...you are correct...I forgot the way the pilot record files are set up. I'd like to see an Ioncross type server program where you could, as the server operator, modify people's ship attributes and money, but since all the pilot info is stored on the client, this would be impossible to do.

Probably a wise way to have set it up as that too caused problems with hurt feelings.
