New Player, few qustions!

Hi All

great game, been playing a week or so now, MP a few days. I must say you guys are frinedly and very helpfull.

Ive got a couple of questions if I may.

Is it possible to point my ship at a Nav in a different Quadrant and make it there without gate travel?

Can I turn AA on ingame? (I have been doing it from my driver so far)

I saw a YouTube vid with a really smart looking HUD/Cockpit, I think it was the TrackIR one, it had the map screen etc on it. Can this be used without trackIR?

How come their are no oceans on planets, or am I yet to find one?

Can you tracktor/tow friends ships to safety if damaged/disabled?

Got some more, but dont want to over do it for now.

Again thanks for the warm welcome in game, just aobut to start exploring south of Sapphire, just finished hte northern circuit.

yes,

in the nav screen set where you want to go the Sx,Sy and Sz co-ords are the sector cordinates, but just note space is big.
you can also use alt+f2 to travel the maximium distance in the direction you are facing using your jump drive - still most journies will be rather long, but its possible, many pilots have tails of "how they got from sapphire to olympus on just 2 units of fuel" etc

fraid not, I don't think the language the game is built in supports that

not all planets have them and some effects are turned off at lower detail settings, and some only appear at 'high'

not really

but you can give them fuel if they run out, most pilots have a repair system, and dying and respawning comes at no cost ( apart from losing everything since your last save - hint: save often

)

Hi all

Another question, jsut now I thought I would do some deep space exploration, so I picked a big purple nebulae and started on my way, well 100 or so jumps later I was no closer it seemed.

im guessing the neb was just for show,m but I thought everything you see you can visit, so whats occuring?

It's probably the background nebula for a large region of space. You can essentially fly all the way to it by flying to the very edge sector of that region (could take hundreds of sectors though), then fly through to the other side, which will take you through a massive cloud of gas/fog. Smaller nebulae that are localized within sectors can be flown to and through much easier.

Depends on what it is you're looking/hunting for. Different exploration objectives have different methods. If you're looking for hidden planets, you'll have to keep your nav sensor range at maximum and visually search. If you're looking for hidden containers, you'll need to establish a search patter/grid and keep an eye on your radar for purple blips. Or, you'll need to hire a science ops specialist and learn to triangulate the coordinate information they provide to narrow down a search. If you're looking for valuable resources, you'll need to use the tractor beam to pan through asteroids for the best locations. If you're looking for trading hotspots, you'll need to fly to various locations to discover the best ones. If you are looking for certain economies with certain benefits, you'll need to carefully monitor the planet labels on the nav map as you explore various solar systems. Plus many more. So 'good' ways relate to what it is you're exploring for.

I just found one, but I dont know what it is.

I was in a nebula in sapphire and found a station with a blue orb in it, i tractored it and it said Energy pod, but what is is???

Damn fine game this, loving it.

That is an energy pod, now you just have to figure out what to do with it

Look for a Hidden planet in one of the Hostile Systems that has fulcrum torpedos for sale at its Stations, Some of these Stations might also carry the Device!;)

Make sure you have enough credit though, your gonna need about 35 million credits to buy this device if you can not find it at a Station!LOL:P

Morning

Well I found the hidden planet, and got my Stealth Device, and a Lethiathan to boot!

How on earth do you lot find these planets, without GORFS help I would never have found it.

Now just gotta find my way back some how!
