Does the AI ever use EMP - Kinetic - Excalibur missiles?

I have never noticed them using them(on me or anyone else).

Is it true that they don't, and if so, may I ask why?

They don't. They are considered expiremental/tough to find weapons available to human players to give them particular advantanges over the AI should they put the effort into finding and acquiring them.

It would certainly be a surprise if they fired excals sometimes. Nothing would make the pulse quicken like 10 reds firing excals at you at once. "Alert. You need to change your underpants!"

I think they're missile happy as is, though.

And now imagine if they got their hands on Fulcrum Torpedo's, and you have 10 of them coming at you from all directions and no jump coordinates are far enough to escape to, not only do you have to change your underpants, you have to change into your funeral uniform or be able to time warp!LOL:P:P:P

Although that's kind of funny, to have these weapons available for sale in public stations, then.

Giving the AI the possibility to use EMP/Kinetics/Excalibur would higher the challenge a bit, I think. I'd love to see a build with those weapons available to the outer ring hostile system. I'd have a blast.

Well, to be honest, imo they're way too rare.

I mean... they don't give you that much of an advantage, and they're so hard to find that when you do find them, half the time you're not even in a position where you need/want to use them.

I would have no problems with Excal being a random loadout on AI ships I know they don't have them now. One thing though since we always tend to want to talk about balance is that in renegades and probably here I would swear AI ships already have more than 8 hardpoints for missles cause it sure seems at times they fire more than 8 missles at me. So my guess is that the excal helps to balance that at least somewhat.

Sure looks that way sometimes, but ussually there are to Vonari ships close behind one another they look like one on your radar, so it looks like sixteen missiles coming from one ship!lol:P

I may have misunderstood the answer but this was posted back in the renegades forum a bit ago and unless he was talking of capital ships I interpreted it to mean they could have more than 8 missiles. It could be my misunderstanding though

- Yes, they are limited. So one effective tactic is to trick them into wasting their missiles, then move in when all they've got left are guns. However, when there are several hostile ships around, it can take a long time to get them to exhaust all of their missiles (just 5 ships can potentially carry 40+ missiles). But it's a good tactic if you're just up against one or two nearby hostiles.

It just seems like they have more than 8 missiles, because they just keep firing missiles at you constantly. They must get them for free, because NOBODY who would have to pay for missiles would fire that many at a single target. One or two maybe soften you up, but not all 8.

They certainly shouldn't when there are 10 ships against you in open space away from a station, like you are on a patrol contract. They all would fire at most 1 missle and then swarm you and take you on with cannons and lasers. Missiles cost too much to waste.

I want to know where they get their missiles from so I can go there, lol.

I'll bet you they get them from the Romulans, cause they are to scared to use them themselfs so they'll give them for free to our enimies!lol:P:P:P
