Why isn\'t this game on Steam?

Steam doesn't permit users to roll back their games to earlier versions. While Vice is extremely quick and responsive about updates and fixes, it is nice having the option to go back to an earlier version. ;)
I just want an active MP scene, and figure this is most likely to happen if EL gets on steam.

Eh, it'd be more productive to write a step by step and FAQ on it (and have it stickied). The easier it is to get into multiplayer, the more people you'll have jumping on. Putting a game on Steam won't necessarily make it popular.

for me, while I do have a steam account, and have a few games on in, most recent Left4dead, but I got that from the store then through steam, but it does need steam to run, and from what I read that list is slowly growing. steam is fairly expensive to buy from, while I personally not had any issues with steam, a few have, and some aren't keem that even DVD copies need the steam client to play the games, I think this is a little wrong, yes there are a few inde games on it, but not that many. when I try and buy a game,, retro for example, I try and buy from the dev site, rather through third party, as you can be assured that the version is always up to date on their site.

I like supporting games like Mr Robot, moonpod (awesome game) and jet N guns and Archibald's Adventures, Rakeingrass

for me, if this game HAD appeared on say steam, I doubt I would have got it, but rather direct from Vice's website still

just my two pounds worth

Well if Steam gave users a serial, couldn't you just download the game from starwraith.com and use that serial? No need to use steam other than to purchase the game. The point of putting EL on steam is simply to reach a wider audience.

Every one on this forum seems to have the same positive awsome feeling about this game because we all tried it and fell in love with it!

But allot of people before trying something out want to read positive reviews before trying anything out! And I tried to see if I could find any reviews for this game anywhere without luck! Starwraith 3D Games should have its own review site, so when people visit the site they could read our reviews and feedback!;)

I would agree with that, but what about a wiki for the game? I have tested a few wiki programs for another piece of software I felt needed it, EzGenerator, a website creation program. but anyway, maybe a wiki could be setup for this game? not that hard to install and use, might help to promote the game a bit more, especially with users contributing to it

just a thought

This is a good link but seems to be only accesible if you know where it is! This should be on a clear visible link on the Home page under Customer ratings and reviews!

Player reviews are not going to reach as large of an audience as the major review-sites will.

I'd like to close this for now. Continually posting here on the forum asking why isn't the game on Steam really isn't helping much. The question has already been answered and it's up to Valve as to whether it will ever happen. Major review sites are the same way.

As I said earlier, I have already submitted requests for distribution through Steam, but it's tough to get any traction when you're not a big name. It really is primarily up to word of mouth as the means to inform others about the game. It's often the best option for independent developers who get little coverage otherwise. If you really want to see the game show up on a service you enjoy, it's probably more effective to send your requests to those running that service. They may listen to users of their service more than they do a developer like me.

And as for distribution preferences, even if the game were to be made available through other 'services', I would still offer it directly. Adding it to another distribution service would not replace the current option. Those who prefer to use a service could do so while those who prefer to buy direct would still have the option.
