Server performance low warnings

server performance low (27), insufficient resources
I'm trying to figure out what's going on here.
I've swapped out the ram to no avail.
The server is runing nothing but the game server
Any help is appreciated.

27 is really close to making the minimum rate needed to avoid the message, so it's right on the borderline. Have you manually set the CPU level, or did you leave set to automatic? If automatic, it's probably at the limit of 9 and the bars are red in color. How fast is the CPU? How fast is the memory and FSB? What kind of 3D video does it have? Some integrated video system can heavily task a CPU. Otherwise, even a 1.5 GHz system running a 32 MB video card can generally keep the FPS in the 30's with a CPU level of around 5. It's an older P4 running at 3.0 Ghz, Corsair dual channel 3200
it does not have integrated video but not much of a video card anyway.
What should the cpu level be set at, and you're right it's about 9 all the time though the actual CPU usage reported by windows rarely goes above 25%

Yes, the error message is new. It's used to help pin down possible server-side causes for excessive object jumping, delayed message/packet retrieval, and other connection related problems. At 27 though, it's generally still running fast enough to maintain reliable gamestate.

That system should doing a lot better with the program than it is. In fact, I'd expect the CPU throttle to hover around 3-4 rather than being pegged at 9. The throttle setting in the text2.dat file is probably already set to automatic is since the value increases to 9.

Couple of things to check:

- Verify the driver version you are using is fairly current. What kind of 3D card is it? Even an old GeForce 2 would work ok.
- If the CPU use is only 25% and it's running into this problem, check for other applications in the task manager that might be consuming the other 75%. At idle, the system should sit around 0-3% use most of the time and only increase when an active program is running.
- Open DXDIAG and verify all 3D test buttons are enabled and check the hardware acceleration slider to make sure it's all the way to the right.

I had just loaded the program and let'er rip.. lol Never seemed to have any problems.
I went into the text2 file and set the usage value to wide open baby...25 lol
Now there is no CPU bar at all...

Yeah, forcing a set value will remove the auto-throttle bar. It will set itself to 25 if CPU resources are needed when using the auto-throttle mode.
