Increase in demo time?

Post by DMarkwick »

After getting my install working with TrackIR, fooling about with general controls & settings, and not fully understanding the requirements for performing certain jobs (meaning I wasted a lot of time flying about looking for items I wasn't sure I needed), I find that I'm out of demo time, having done nothing constructive.

Is there a way to reset this?

I think you can continue to use the training mode as long as you like!

There is a way.
You can find it in the somewhere of the forum.
Uninstall it and erase all directories of the game, then reinstall it.
Or something like that...

You can also uninstall the game and then reinstall it. It's a 45MB download, so it's not too bad doing it that way and then quickly reconfiguring the controls each time. I did this once or twice before I finally bought the game a few days later :)

I found it, the message from Vice (game's creator):

Uninstall the game, then delete the \\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends folder, reinstall and start over. Next time around, you can stay in the training mode to work on learning navigation, docking, landing, and other areas of ship control. Then you can hop into the single player mode when you're ready to try a few contracts, earn some credits, explore, and maybe upgrade a few things.

Good flying...

I uninstalled the game, then manually deleted the folder.

However, upon reinstall I still have the same pilot, and the same time restriction. I cannot see anything in MyDocuments, and if there are registry entries I don't know what they are under.

Anyone know any more about what files/data stick around after uninstall?

Did you check your Temporary download and other Temporary folders for entries of the Games folder?;)

C;\\swdg\\legends\\ is the default location, you say you deleted this folder?Try deleting the swdg folder if you didnt do that already.

by default the game installs to c:\\sw3dg folder (the drive letter may be different, depending on what your 'default' drive is), uninstal and delete that folder. the fact your pilot profile was still there suggests you did not delete this folder. once you've done this you can search your computer for pilot0.sw if its still somewhere there delete the folder its in ;)

( though you can make a copy of the pilot0.sw file if you want to keep that profile ;) )

it might not be pilot0.sw ( could be another number, pilot1.sw for instance ), but 0 is most likely

You probably installed the core games files in a different folder from the save data folder. So there are likely still files in c:\\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends Delete or rename that folder (in case you want to keep your current profile, which you can restore later if you want to) and you'll start over.

That will be it :) I installed the game into O:\\EvochronLegends so if there's files that still go into the default location, that will be the problem.

Cheers :)

As mentioned, I'd recommend keeping your pilot profile before you move or delete that folder. You can then transfer everything over to the O drive if you want to. I've added additional instructions to the link above on moving the game from one drive to another and from one folder to another (probably good to have it here in addition to the instructions).
