I posted a really sloppy review/features list on Impulse... and someone linked in the comments thread to this...

Overall a favorable review if you ask me :)

I read Wasp89's review a couple of times over (IGN.com) before I even downloaded the game, that one review definately helped intrigue me more about Evochron. Seeing more out there as time goes on will be a plus, along with that the great community support and Vice's amazing work will definately make this grow.

Did Wasp89 post a review there as well? Couldn't find his review, do you have a direct link? I really like to read all the reviews :D

- Tournaments. I'd like to announce a scheduled tournament in advance where 20-30 players could meet up for massive PvP dogfights or team-vs-team battles with in-game prizes or some other winnings. I'd like to hear ideas from others on scenarios and prizes.

> Scenarios:
*Convoy escort and raid. Winning side keeps whatever the convoy was carrying, ore, tech, etc
*Planetary defence (one side must land a craft to 'plant' some kind of bomb/virus) Winning side gets to rename the planet/station plus cash
*Station Defence (as above)

- Noob introduction flights. We'd meet new players who aren't familiar with multiplayer and answer questions, show basic gameplay functions, train for combat, and in general, help get new players started.

> Noob Academy at Saphire. This is a mission people can take which then assigns them to look after and teach a noob certain aspects of the game. Mission is ongoing and player gets a message whenever a noob requests a trainer. (i.e the player who took the trainer mission gets paged ;) ). For each task the noob completes they, and the trainer, receive rewards in cash.

- Featured 'Mod' section for both the newsletter and the game's official website. A weekly or monthly featured mod for the game, generally a cockpit, ship(s) set, or HUD.

> and in game links from stations? 'Try the All New Swishy Cockpit 4000! Only $99.95!'

- Discovery section. Players who are deep space explorers can have an entire solar system or just a planet named after them, or they can give it a desired name. The requirement is they have to be the first to discover it and report its location to me. The unique name can then be applied in a future update to the game and announced in the discovery section and/or newsletter.

> Automate this with 'beacons' that can be dropped by players in atmospheres or just in space. That way exploration is a good goal for MP. You'd get races where one guy could turn up in what they think is a 'new' system only to discover some other player has already planted a flag :)

- Player videos section. Players can submit videos they record (maybe through Youtube) of gameplay battle/action sequences, discoveries, accomplishments, or even machinima. This would be part of an overall 'Player's Universe' section of the website.

> On a more general note, email magazine and website editors with this stuff. Let them know how much fun you're having and why they should be paying attention to this game.

An idea.

This idea consists of basically a server test. Under the auspices of an assault on the Vonari homeworld. This could also lead to large group screenshots, videos, etc... I do realize that a lot of us live in very different timezones. However I know if we plan ahead we can put together a substantial force to patrol the very surface of Vonarion. Of course, there are other options as well... but I think a large group multiplayer (co-op) could work very well to promote our space. Not to mention the opportunity for a large scale dogfight :D

Anyone with a of taking video or screenshots would be wanted of course.

It's just a thought and it'd need to be scheduled... but any other ideas?

This is the software I'm trying out for converting my raw video into a format accepted by youtube. It also helps my videos take less space on my webserver (which the homepage should change soon...)

I am touting the game among the E&B patrons seeing if I can get a gaggle of us to play here as well. So far I have been hearing good reports.
Should be grabbing the full game this weekend so I will log onto the server as soon as I am able. Rather looking forward to this ;-)
Come see what is in store for Earth & Beyond!

I missed this somehow...

I did not write a review on IGN. @Kursah, I dunno who it was, but it wasn't me! Now you've got me wishing that I had though...

the living should take this to heart...

Theres an interesting discussion going on at SpaceSimCentral.com, regarding the elements you would like to see in your ideal Space Sim, and interestingly enough the modular ship design from Evochron crops up..

http://www.spacesimcentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=194

so I thought I'd join in.. :)

I wrote a quick story on my blog about Evochron Legends: http://www.spaceman.ca/blog/?p=67

If anything I hope it will add another few links to this website. The more out there written about this game, the better! :)

I've added Evochron Legends to Moddb.com with the permission of vice here: http://www.moddb.com/games/evochron-legends, some stuff still needs authorising so you probably can't see the reviews/news/features articles. Hope it looks good enough :)

EDIT: spelk I found one of you reviews, from another topic and added it to the EL profile on moddb as a review. Hope you don't mind :). Here it is: http://www.moddb.com/games/evochron-legends/reviews/he-evochron-universe-is-a-seamless-experience, It ended up on the front page of moddb aswell :D.

X1TP - yes its fine to use my review - anything for "the cause" :), just a shame the majority of comments seem to be about my lengthy paragraphs and not the game itself...

It comes across as mildly offensive to be honest.. and surely they're there for the games and the mods, and not to be literary critics? I mean one or two actually inferred that they wouldn't read the review if the paragraphs weren't butchered down to their liking!

/em gobsmacked

I guess these days, they haven't got the attention span to process any textual message longer than a Twitter post of 140 characters. :P

In an age when "txtspeak" is rife, its amazing you can have such critical personalities in a game modding community. But, I suppose, "theres nowt funnier than folk".

Moddb has been talking about the EL on the mod cast for about 10+ mins saying how great it is and that people should try it. To be honest I was expecting a side note on it as it was at the end, but its great they spent a bit of time talking about the different features of the game. They did say something about the profile I did on moddb, so I think I need to add to it a bit more :).

Mod cast: http://www.moddb.com/groups/blog/featur ... st-s02-e19

Its right at the end though but a lot of people listen to it ;)
