Keyboard or Joystick?

Post by Grue »

I see Cyborg Evo and the ST290 Pro on Amazon for the same price. That being said, shouldn't I go with the Cyborg Evo? Looks like it has more base buttons. Or did they screw up something with the Cyborg Evo and I should simply stick with ST290 Pro? Thanks again!

I've seen the Cyborg and while it seems like a better stick, my replacement stick for my battered st290pro is going to be another st290pro.

Why?
simply cause I'm a lefty, and the st290 allows you to adjust it for left handed players. Saitek are missing out by not making leftie versions of the x52!

I spoke to them about that. They just don't think there are enough "lefties" to justify the tooling!
The X52 is designed to closely simulate aircraft controls for fighters, and they don't make lefty controls for those. :(
Does that imply that if you are a lefty you can not become a Fighter Pilot? :o That's a shame!:(

You can still qualify to be a fighter pilot, you just have to learn how to fly with "right-hand" controls!

Since I got my Saitek X52, I would not do with out it, This is the first joystick I ever bought, always preffered the Keyboard before. The Ordinary joysticks to my taste did not have enough programable buttons making it necessary to use the keyboard anyway in complicated games Like Falcon 4.0 AF, and Evochron Renegades/Legends.

These games were the Reason for me buying my Saitek X52 and my Track IR 4.0 Pro!

I prefer the joystick, it's only a cheap brand "Topway macro vibration" I picked from ebay, virtually identical to a PS2 controller. Probably, the only limitation is I would like to be able to key in the strafing buttons.

I recently recieved an Xbox360 usb controller from the G/F, it works great in damn near every game I play, this one I've had a slight issue getting the thrust working properly with the R2/L2 axis buttons. Since they're triggers, the game considers them an axis just like every other game, the issue is getting the game to invert them...as it stands L2 is accell, R2 is decel...which is back-ass-wards to what I'm used to. I'm still up in the air if I will continue to use it over the PS2 controller for this game, especially since the x360 controller has fewer actual buttons total to assign to...I'm not sure I like how the throttle use via axis is executed.

Also whitey, just set the HAT buttons to be used for strafing before you to into the control config and you should be set...unless you wanted to use different buttons for strafe that is. ;)
