Question About Player Ships Scale

Post by Krelian »

Hi!

I had tried the demo version of Evochron Renegades* about 7 months ago or so, and instantly fell in love with it, ESPECIALLY the atmospheric transfereance/decents etc... so naturally I ended up buying it.

So when i heard about the release Legends, it was no brainer. I bought it today and downloaded it, glad to be back in action:)

OK; so here is the question as the title suggests;

How big are the ships that the player commands? For example a Leviathan class =? Is it the size of a fighter like an F-16 ? Or is it sort of bigger like the size of a Corvette (I-War games). I do know that they are OFCOURSE no capital ships, but i have no idea about how they would scale next to a pilot figure standing near it.

PLEASE pay attention to this fact that i am absolutley NOT suggesting/requesting a pilot eject system or something like that, AS i recon it would be too much work for too little gain.

ALAS, having an approximate idea of how big a ship the player is using would be awesome!

Coz when im playing Evochron, I keep asking myself;
*Am I the pilot of a fighter or the Captain of a slightly larger ''ship''?

AWESOME GAME!! Love it!
Thx for reading the post:)

Question About Player Ships Scale

Post by Vice »

For the Leviathan, the intended scale is larger, more like an IW2 Corvette. The military fighters, like the Evoch, are smaller overall, primarily due to simply being a lot shorter vertically and weighing a lot less. If you're flying a Levi, you're more like the captain of a moderate sized spacecraft, complete with room for crew should you choose to hire any. If you're flying an Evoch, you're a fighter pilot in a one-seat combat spacecraft.

Usually, most fighters can pretty much compare to a slightly bulky air fighter. Most civilian ships are far larger.

thetiebers;
Thank you for the welcome, its good to be back
:)

Vice&Rami;
Thanks alot for the information and the timely replies! This is not just an estimated guess by me anymore (about the player ship sizes) BUT it has been explained by the developer himself, and the idea is further confirmed by a fellow pilot.
^^

didn't there use to be a cool picture that gave relative sizes of the ER/Arvoch ships compared with similar sci-fi ships?

Yup. Uhm, lets see if I can find that.

Catch. It includes Evochron Alliance and Arvoch Conflict, so basically, it covers about everything but the new stations.
