Been playing a few days now, having a good time and slowly learning.
Just a few questions at the moment, as an old Jumpgate player I find the flying a little soft and bouncy. when I move my direction its as though the curser is a little late in responding and it doesnt stop when I stop. If i move the stick slow it's ok but fast movements cause what I'd call a bouncy feeling. Is this normal or do I have a problem. I'm using an FF2 with the FF turned off.
When the Red light flashes "system" does that mean I'm damaged or the system has turned hostile. When I am damaged what indicates this on the HUD.
I've stopped upgrading my ship since I got my Raven, is this a viable combat ship and any suggested loadouts ( I mining mostly for my cash but having to fight quite a bit too).
Thanks in advance.

Your ship is running on inertial dampener - the "box" indicates where you're heading, and your ship needs a few moments to change it's vector to where you're pointing the nose.
With the dampener off, you can turn the ship independently from it's travel vector, making some interesting maneuvres possible.
"System" indicates that one of the three primary systems (weapons, sensors or engines) has been damaged, with the system in question not working properly anymore.
The Raven is quick and nimble, but a bit lacking in the hardpoint department - you'll probably want a frame with 8 hardpoints later on, so you can use the excalibur missile factory pack.

If I understand what you're saying, the ship continues to pitch, roll, or yaw briefly after you release the controls and 'glides' to a rate when you input control. If that's the case, yes, that is intended and normal. Evochron simulates a thruster based newtonian physics system, so any action needs to have an opposite reaction to counter it. For example, this means that if you activate yaw, your ship will fire thrusters to match your control input, which can take a brief timeframe to achieve a target yaw rate. And when you center/release the controls, counter-thrusters engage to stop the movement, which can take a few tenths or hundreths of a second, depending on the severity of the movement. Your ship doesn't just suddenly hault to a stop when you release controls, nor does it suddenly jerk to a 1:1 movement if you peg a control, since that wouldn't be very realistic movement for a spacecraft.Just a few questions at the moment, as an old Jumpgate player I find the flying a little soft and bouncy. when I move my direction its as though the curser is a little late in responding and it doesnt stop when I stop. That means a system on your ship has sustained damage. When the Red light flashes "system" does that mean I'm damaged or the system has turned hostile. When I am damaged what indicates this on the HUD.
It's good for light combat, with maybe no more than 3 or 4 hostile ships. So I would stick to combat in Olympus until you upgrade your ship further.I've stopped upgrading my ship since I got my Raven, is this a viable combat ship and any suggested loadouts ( I mining mostly for my cash but having to fight quite a bit too).
