an evochron screensaver

So last night I was searching for space-like screensavers for my computer. They all looked cheap looking even though their asking prices were all around 20 dollars. I ended up getting a crappy screensaver when it dawned on me...one of evochron's main appeals is its immersive visual atmosphere. It would make for an awesome screensaver say if the computer chose random waypoints to fly to (no cockpit, just space). It would be an amazing way for anyone to just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere of the game....but would it be hard to program? What do you all think of this really random idea?

Beats the heck out of spending 20 bucks!
For 5 dollars more, you can buy the whole game and take your own picks for screensavers!

I know, right? Well, I mean it wouldnt be just pics...I think it would be uber cool to be able to watch spaceflight on the comp screen as it happens. Sort of a way to learn about the evochron universe at the same tyime

To expand on your idea...it could do duel purpose..have a screen saver that showcases the game and maybe throw a FPS counter in for people to see how well their system will run the game at the same time.

The only downside I see from a user POV, is it's rather large size for a screensaver. Since you'd need to download the actual demo/game to really work as a showcase of the real game engine. Vice would have to evaluate if this would be worth putting into the main menu and how many new players would be drawn in with it.

even with the olarge download i think it would be a great idea. im sure a lot of people wouldnt mind it. especially if it served that dual purpose, ya know?

Except when I think about a screensaver, I think about something that is going to run and keep my computer in a low power and low processor state, not something that is going to tax my system.

I'm afraid if my laptop decided to run EL every time the screensaver kicked in without me there to monitor temperature and performance, I'd fry my motherboard in a matter of weeks! (Darn laptops and their tendency to overheat!)

I do 5 everyday and earn more money than Vice
