[EL] Rookie Reporting in!

Post by Exim »

Hi, I am new here... started the game less than 24 hours ago... and also got the registration key... the game is awesome and in no way expensive... I am also a long time Freelancer player so most things are not hard to get used to...

I met a few of you on the SW Server... Is that where players usually hang out?

I am still flying the ship I was given when you start... and activating the next beacon wants a specific frame... and it cost alot more money... and all the other minor upgrades to go with it as well as extra fuel consumption...

what are my options to getting some cash flowing? I am doing Platium runs at the moment... and contracts in saphhire system are almost worthless... I am flying around with a level 2 cannon... and 2 missiles... I dont think I am ready for combat just yet...

Hello Exim, welcome to the forum and the Sim. Hope to see you out there soon. It does take awhile to upgrade at times but if it came to fast it might ruin the experience. ;)

Sounds like your on a good start. If you're familiar with combat in FL and have adapted to your preferred control option with Evochron, you might be ready for some basic combat. If you'd like to try it, save your profile in safe space, then head to Olympus. Take on a few combat contracts there and see what you think. If you decide to spend some more time doing peacful things, the platinum runs are probably a good option. Also, the peaceful contracts will pay faster/better as you complete more of them and complete them faster.

welcome to the game :)

just checking your getting the most out of your first ship. for these plat runs have you upgraded to 5 cargo bays?

i made my first credits planetary mining next to a starport. despite the torrential downpour and heavy turbulence the locals paid top rate for plat, gold and silver :)

I've made 20mil so far just with 1 cargo bay... but I will probably get more as I advance to bigger frames...

I have moved onto the Saber Frame with most things Class 3 and 4 now... sticking to 1 cargo bay allows me so... and I dont think I need a large amount of cash just yet... eagerly waiting for my parking garage in the next update where I will have a ship purely for mining...

Altho one problem I have found is fuel consumption is almost exponetial :( so I try to fly inertial as much as I can...

hehe, 20 mil is fine, i stepped outside saffire with about 5 mill, was enough for some sweet upgrades and a phoenix hull to put em in :)

also when your swapping jobs (combat vs earning) swap your ship about. the cost to swap to a large cargo bay then back again is almost negligible. and 5 cargo bays means 4 less trips back to station to sell your spoils!

fly fun and i'll see you online again some time :)
