Cockpit strut shadow

Post by ShaggyMoose »

I prefer the strutless cockpit to get a good view, but I found that depending on the lighting, its still possible to see the shadow of the struts on the cockpit canopy! Not sure if this was brought up before for ER. It looks a bit odd, but not exactly a show stopper bug though.:D

You can remove the struts (and the shadow) in the options menu. No idea what you did, seems like a cockpit mod gone awry.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Doesn't look like that's actually strut shadows, those are the reflections on the canopy glass (which also apply, even when the canopy is a 'bubble'). Those reflections are generated by the structures remaining in the cockpit, including the dash, gauges, seat, side, and rear panels. The edge 'frosting' caused by the struts are removed when you turn the struts off, those are different from the reflections. You can remove the reflections, if desired, by also turning them off in the Options menu ('Reflection/Gloss Effects') or by manually doing it through mod options by replacing the glass textures.

Hmmm. I guess it looks weird because it doesn't seem to match with what I can see in the cockpit. I will try turning off reflections as well.

Probably because you aren't looking at floor structures and the seat in the scene, which is most of what you see from the middle on up (the glass is angled back at you, showing you what's below your view). But turning off reflections will turn it all off.
