Contract: Dropping cargo for ship

Post by SSquared »

I have now done two contracts where I need to drop off cargo to a ship. I get to the waypoint and the ship is there. But I find it extremely difficult to get close to it. I end up having to use my afterburners for a minute or so until I can outpace the ship and finally jettison my cargo.

Is there a different way to do this?

Try jumping in at 0 degrees and zero pitch and this should put you in front of the cargo ship....the ship is always in forward motion. You should be able to go just under it and use the "J" key at the drop point below it.

"Good Flying" ;)

one thing that works for me most of the time...I just hit inertia mode and when I exit FD jump I pitch my ship straight down and start hitting the 'j' key. when the top of my ship hits the 'target' vessel I usually get the mission complete. Some times I am forced to go away from the ship and hit 'auto pilot' to line up and find the true bottom. :D

I usually jump in with Inertia on, then move down using vertical thrusters. Usually, I get the mission done on first fly-by of the target vessel.
