I'm planning to launch the customizing kit at the same time the next build enters testing. I decided to use Carwash's cockpit as a test for the new cockpit system and it worked well with just a little modification. I've attached a video below showing the cockpit in Legends. With the reflection and illumination layers added, you can see how light reflects off the surface as a roll maneuver is performed, giving it more depth than in Renegades. Also, the colored lights on the top and yellow spotlights near the middle remain lit even when those parts of the structure leave the light from the star. You can also see light shimmer a bit off the various structures. Looks pretty good, but a powerful system is recommended for this cockpit design since it's very high poly.
With Carwash's permission, I'll be happy to upload the updated version for players to try once the new build of the game launches. It is a good template to use for understanding the kinds of layers and textures needed to import a custom cockpit into the game.
I hope to have a test build of the next update available in about 2 weeks.

Customizing kit and new build...
Cool
While I'd naturally love to give the cockpit more exposure and am flattered you chose it I'm worried about the legality of any 'official' distibution of this.
I'm not a 3D artist. As mentioned in the original thread, most of the componenets of the cockpit are other people's work, edited by me and badly welded into the whole. While all the models and textures used were free, I'm not sure if they are all free for uses other than personal, and it COULD be argued that Vice, by releasing it in a pack used to 'promote' a product he is selling, is violating that agreement.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see this in the Mod Kit but I don't want Vice to get angry letters from pissed off 3D artists.
See the original thread for links to the places I got the models.

Vice isn't charging for the cockpit though, simply re-releasing it to demonstrate the capabilities of Legends and the new customisation kit, so as far as I can see, there shouldn't be any issues.
