Arming time on missiles to effect pvp.

Post by Graven »

The very few pvp encounters I have had in this game have all boiled down to the same thing, someone launching a missile(s) at nr point blank range and boom.

Missiles are the deciding factor of any pvp combat and not players flight skills (beyond the obvious missile use ones).

Would there be any balance issues if all missiles had a 4 second arming delay after launch added?

That way, even locked on, your missile has to be in space for 4 secs before it will go boom and do damage and no more stealth up, uncloak, launch at point blank and giggle.

Graven,
You'll find ways to deal with this, missiles are often a deciding factor, but you'll find a lot of good pilots have found ways to avoid being hit by missiles, you pick up these tips too ;)

I'd adjust my technique compared with Eclipses suggestion ( it is a good one), If I suspect a pilot is in my area I turn IDS off and go straight to max speed, using strafe to increase my velocity, and also make me harder to track. this combined with a few intra-sector jumps ( mainly I like to hang around stations, so I keep jumping back to the same spot), will let you stay in the area without much of a threat from stealthed shiups.

remember to use ¬ or ~ ( depending on your keyboard) to find which sector the other pilots are in. :)

I still dislike that ~ functionality. It takes out sneaking.

Before engaging in PvP the players can agree to not use their missiles in combat....Using just Laser's and cannon's only is a real Hoot and does show your flying and combat skills. This also allows you to get some great training in at the same time. Next time your in MP online try asking another pilot for a Go at using Guns only and have a blast.

"If you see me online just ask me and I will be happy to go one on one with guns Only" ;)

Wow, you could go Lasers only and the last one with shields wins. No Kills but good training ( lol ). A delay would be useful tho. :):(
