had some fun last night with a few players doing some contracts together. but the experience of getting together was quite confusing.
i found numpad - and F in the options screen. F made me follow my target and numpad - beeped but i didnt see anything else.
both pilots remained yellow to me and i couldnt see any indication that we were all linked up.
it worked a treat though, we all got the waypoint and blew the reds to bits.
so, is there any way of seeing who you are linked with? also would it be possible to show linked players as greens?
one more thing, i got blown up by a carrier, when i did a reload my waypoint didnt take me back to the mission. apart from getting your wingmen to shout their location (not an option when avoiding a carriers missiles) is there any other way to get back into the fight?
thanks for the feedback

The numpad - link is for clan linking. If you're in a clan, anyone in a different clan shows red... use that to turn them to green. A medium (yellow) threat level is fine as long as you're using Alt+T to target the reds... If you're in a system with other players you're automagically linked with each other for contracts

1. "num -" using for clan linking.
You can be a friend (green) with another clan member.
Doesn't work on independent pilot.
2. f (form) works with yellow and green pilots. It means "follow the target".
3. It is ok for me. If you have been killed, you didn't complete the mission already. Rejoin to war must be little difficult acoording to me. You destroyed and kicked of the war. Justice for Vonari

Is there a linked version of the chat, so that you're only talking to the local ships, and not spamming the whole chat channel with mission related or organisational stuff?
If you're linked up with others, perhaps a different colour to the normal red-yellow-green could be used (blue?) to indicate fellow players who are on a co-operative level with you.. obviously if they fire at you or you at them, then their colour would reflect the threat level.. but being able to see which ship is a co-op friendly as opposed to an NPC friendly would be beneficial, if you're trying to fly in formation or perform a group hit on a capital ship etc..

No, just private message system available (alt+enter to target)
If you use clan tag, other clan turns to green only.
But nice ideas actually...

ahh, so it was simpler than i thought
ok, so i can see why players are always yellow then (clans aside), cos you wont know if they are happy to fight with you or are hoping to blow you up.
maybe making a more formal linking system would be good then? i like the idea of grouped pilots turning blue so you know they are the ones you are flying with.
hmm, not sure about the troubles getting back into the fight tho, we were just 3 newbies taking on contracts in olympus, miiles away from the front line
if there is a more formal linking system then having the ability to set your waypoint to a friends location would be good. obviously this wont work in the simple "linked by being in system" as it would give your position away to the no-so-friendly pilots.
and spelk, i still cant get over you not looking like an elf
thanks for the feedback!

Did your reload bring you back to the same sector as the contract?, if not then the waypoint probably wouldn't show up.If you were in the same sector, then open up nav map there should be blue brackets showing the location of missionOriginally posted by ReaperAlex
