Private station
One thing I am really missing (or maybe I don't know how) is a way to hoard the stuff I like. Even a simple "treasure chest" in the form of a container that you can fill or empty at will to switch weapon types, etc without the need to find/sell/buy at stations.
The ultimate would be the ability to build a private station that only the player can access and only has things that you bring in yourself, including ship frames and components. I am thinking of something similiar to 'Independance War' where you have your own base with all your stuff. This would add a great sense of "belonging" to the universe. Right now I feel like a gypsy everywhere I go.
Another thought is the idea of a different level of station license, something like a station "deed" that is crazy expensive but the station is hostile to all but the player and the player gets to keep all docking fees?
I have the feeling that any of these are either technically impossible or would cause issues with miltiplayer, however, I just wanted to float the idea.

BraveHart gave me the idea of using my cargo space to store extra equipment . That may help.

Cool Idea reaper. Since we're dreaming big...A variation for mutiplayer could be a "clan" owned station sort of like how you have coporation run installations in EVE. It would just be alot more expensive so that it requires contributions from everyone in the clan to rent the hanger space.
Playing EL the last few nights inspired me to re-install I-War2. What a great game that is, still holds up as one of my favorite space sims ever. (nothing even came close until I found EL)

Storage would be a good idea, and something I find myself wanting time and time again. As for a private station, not a bad idea, would be something for those of us with many, many credits and not much to spend them on.

The more I think about it, a "private" station might be a good idea. But the problem is, as I see it, is that you should only be allowed one and then, where would you put it?
You might be many sectors away from your, "private stash" and returning to it might not be feasible atm. Where you place it might be more important than what you place in it!
I think we need to give this idea more thought.

Indeed, but as I always say, something is better than nothing. Obviously it needs some thought, but I'm sure Vice could come up with a feasible system.

Hmm good idea. I wonder how it would fit in MP, given that each players universe has to the same as the server.

It would be handy if you had a station where you could park your civvy ship, and crew, buy a military one, providing you have the necessary kills/missions under your belt to show that you have the capabilities of using such a ship. Then being able to return to the station, when the dosh is running low, pick up your civvy ship, and crew, and belt off to rebuild your wallet!

I'm not sure about owning a whole station...
That said, I would definitely be interested in storage on a space station that you could purchase or rent... a kind of hangar or cargo dock. It would be nice to be able to store ship components (e.g, stealth generator, cargo scanner) and weapons (FT's, mines, etc.) for when you feel like using your guerrilla tactics. I know that in PvP, I would use a completely different ship component set if I could easily swap components and know that I would be able to easily retrieve what I was getting rid of when I was finished.

Heh, the dynamic server is planned to offer each clan a home station, hidden from radar for anyone who is not in the clan!

Something for storage of weapons, supplies, ships, etc would be very cool indeed and would fit great with this game. The dynamic server clan home station is cool, but what about those that stick with the "lone wolf" mentality? Or would they just create their own clan to have said support?
Storage/home stations would definately be something worth implementation for an added plus to an already good experience imo.

That's what I was thinking, it would save a lot of time and hassle, as you currently have to have duel profiles, one civilian and one military. A hanger of sorts would be a nice addition to the stations, where you could store you ships, plus items/equipment for later.Originally posted by Ravenfeeder

Hanger rental would be ideal for me. Especially if you could rent from more than one station at a time. Store missles and miltary fighter craft in the combat zone...then have your civilian stuff in the 'back home' sectors. This would still be accessable in MP just like any other ship equipment..not sure how easy that would be to program in tho

You don't really need to store ship components since they trade at a 1:1 rate, but I'd love to be able to save complete ships or just store load-outs & configurations.

Indie players will not have a hidden station in the Dynamic server, they do not have the influence and/or monetary wealth to construct a station.
Loadout/Configuration saving sounds fun for the Shipyard. Storing military/civilian ships and/or items ain't that important to me.

Because difficult to switch between military-civil ship's configs.

Yes, but that pretty much is the idea. Military ships should not be stored in civilian stations or the other way around. Saving loadouts for civilian ships would be a nice idea, though.

And we need licensed station list.
Ok, we can use map log future but list is better for navigating and finding the stations.
We can buy a station one day who knows?
We save many ships with different combinations in the station.
Station business and navigating the ships...

Im all for an ability to stash stuff and here are a few ideas:
How about crates you can deploy in space that are locked to all but you. Use the F3 trade to interact with them.
I really like the buying and controlling of multiple ships in the X series of games. So if I could but a scond (or more) ships, they could act as storage spaces (again F3) where I can save stuff.
Again on the multiple ships.. provide an item you can but at space stations that allows you to hop between them. Then you can have military/civilian ships and just leave them floating around in space somewhere.
Or take that one step further into the X world and give them instructions: dock at X and Buy Y then fly to Z etc...
I think multiple ownership of ships would be a wonderful enhancement to a fantastic game.

i have a phoenix with an excaliber pack, but i also want to continue the beacon quest which involves dropping my ship down (striker, stalker? something like that). so i have to put my excaliber pack in my cargo hold before i do that. its not the end of the world but having some way to put a ship in storage while i use another would be great.
its definitely a luxury i've got used to since i started playing eve, and something i'd have liked the old frontier and frontier first encounters to have.
maybe its out of scope for legends (cargo is tied to character not ship as far as i can see), but it would be a great thing to try and work in some time.

I'd settle for a way to store your ships build, so that you can rebuild it, I take such a long time in the builder when I create a ship, that it always seems a shame to dismantle it and never be able to reproduce that ship's design "exactly" again. I suppose I could note down the axis offsets and the equipment loaded, but to be able to export a ships config to a datapad (read "text file"), that I could re-build if I wanted to, would give me swift access to one or two builds, if the games mechanics are tied into a single ship structure.
Obviously a station with a store for some weapon/equipment would be great help to customising to upgrading multiple ship builds, but I guess it all depends on the scope of this game.. and whether multi-ship setups are at all possible.

I agree, multi ship set ups would add a whole new enjoyment to the game including storage space at stations.

All seem to be good ideas but may increase the size of the game by who knows how much. Well Vice would know of course. (lol)
