Howdy,

What are the requirements to increase your military rank? ie do you need to join the fleet for example?

You need to go one of the warzone (tallison or cerulean) and do some ---big some for captain

Thanks Warsign but can you do it with civi ships or do u have to acquire a military ship first?

No need a military ship my friend.
You can do it with your civillian ship.
I did it with my Levi, better than any military ship.

You have to fire up your personnel and give up your cargo bays, if you choose military ship

The bonus with military ships is their speed and manoeuvrability, something that most civilian ships lack. I too have a Leviathan, but found the contracts easier to do in a military ship; the Vonari vessels are particularly flighty, so being slow is a no go in my opinion.

Agreed. Personally, for combat purposes, I'm sticking with military ships. I just got my Wraith, and I have to say that military contracts are now a damn sight easier than they used to be. All that remains for me to do is grind military contracts, rank up, and buy myself an Evoch-C, then I'm pretty much set.

I can vouch for Eclipse's recommendations. I personally use a phoenix for all fighting.
