HAHA! That one's not too hard though, it only took me one or two tries, and doesn't require too much precision.

I think the words of a particularly famous Jedi Knight might help some people get a better idea of where that actually is...

yeah fair enough.............

but what is left?

surviving at the center of a fulcrum explosion? ( done)
jumping through a black hole ( pilots were doing that before I started playing)

lol my sub conscious must have got the better of me, one of my RL nick-names is obi-wan Kenobi ( mainly due to my RL first name)

There is one that I am thinking about doing, but if it works at all it will be an exploit. More than likely it will just result in me dying, but we will see. Details to follow! ^_^

Also... have you ever tried finding an altitude/velocity which will allow you to orbit a gravity body while in inertial? Of course it would differ for bodies of different masses (e.g. stars over planets)... I'm trying to figure out if it can be done...I think I may try to see if I can actually get it to work, and then see if I can use some simple physics equations to thereby measure the theoretical acceleration of gravity on the surface of a given object...just for kicks. Does this make me a nerd?

Wasp, if you want to spend the time with me in multiplayer, let's see if we can't do some orbiting.

you're asking the person who figured out the planet-jump?

I think the trying to workout the gravity just for kicks, possibly, but its something I'd do too.

In theory ( all these 'recent' jumps have been in theory for a looong time) obtaining orbit is possible, I think the reason I've never tried, its that its a lot of work, much much more than doing an extreme jump - with these you learn if your right or wrong very quickly, it could take 10-20 mins to figure out a minor error in an orbit, and you'd need the correct heading and speed and that dependant on altitude.

Seriously if someone ever managed to obtain a repeatable orbit around a planet, I would take my hat off to them, and hand over my crown....
but if it works at all it will be an exploit.
not really, the game is built so this stuff should be possible, my planet jumps are far more of an exploit since they bypass a functional bit of gameplay, though as Vice has always said, the game rewards thinking outside the box.......

Well, in short, my idea for an "extreme jump" was a failure. I had thought that it would be cool if I could come out of a jump INSIDE of a Vonari cap ship. I would start a mission contract, point my craft at a heading of "0," then move the nav point up by about 2000 units (that would be in the positive z direction) and initiate my jump. I did end up inside of the Vonari cap ship--for a very short amount of time--before I was pushed out of it by the gravity field. Once outside the gravity field, I had no momentum and...well, you can guess what happened then.
