nope no damage on the way in,
I took me several tries to get it right ( and I probably couldn't have done it without 'cave jump training' ) Rami owes a bit of credit here, something he did helped me figure out the adjustment I needed to make to be successful.
Strangely, I can repeat this with near 100% success, but when I tried to film it, it took 15 attempts, and I had to make even finer corrections to manage it.
The same goes with leaving the planet:

HeHe,
I'm running out of jumps, blackhole jumps were here before I started playing, as were ( to an extent ) cave jumps, but I proved that for renegades, and now lots of pilots are doing that. There is one other 'extreme jump' I have up my sleeve, but I promised I'd keep thata secret, since it involves something thats not well known yet...........
I don't there is anything left, unless there is a secret 'hollow moon station'

you can do the "jump out of the city manouver without taking any damage ( just not with fraps recording it seems :-/ )
for those of you who haven't seen it before:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JMkdM43qNk
this was the first example of a into and out of cave jump, until this point it had been assumed that it was not possible, now its almost 'standard practice', and some pilots have found several locations for such jumps.......

lets see i joined in 9-7-2006 so that makes it............

its easier to jump out of caves than to jump in, but once you have a 'jump out' point, you can use that ( at a 180 turn around) to jump in. took me about an hour to find the first one, it gets quicker after that.
planet jumps? well I'd tried and failed before, but exploring a asteroid cave gave me an idea, once I'd proved it it took about an hour to pin it down.

Now I want to try it. Cool.
Pay no attention to me!
I\'m just a weather balloon. And some swamp gas... uhh... refracted the light of Venus or something.
Yeah, that\'s it. Definitely not a spaceship, no sir.

Watch your mailbox, you will eventually get a nasty-gram form planetary air traffic control.
Have you tried tactical micro-jumps "The Picard Maneuver"?

I thought I'd give some helpful pointer to pilots trying this out.............
1.shields and hull
beef up, first few time you try youre gonna fry, so get yourself a big ship with top shields
2. choose your city
accurate co ords are vital, dock at the city and note down your exact postion, and also the heading you'll need to take to be flying head-on into the docking tower ( ie at a planet pitch of 90 ), anything else and your likely to fly through the docking area -
3.adjust destination cords
generally i adjust my co ords by 2500 in the direction i want to go, this means you come out of your jump darn near the docking port. hitting the docking port is vital since its your main means of stopping!
4.set your ship
have your shields set to full, turn to your choosen heading, and if possible turn your inertial on and reverse thrust till you are going backwards at the highest velocity you can
5.do the jump
before hitting the f2 button you want to be ready to do two things, 1. hold your reverse thrusters and 2. reinforce your front shield. Hit f2, hold the reverse thrust and tap the shield button as much as you can!
you can get away with jumps both into and out of planets without using the cities, but its harder to survive - though easier to setup
------------------------------------------------------------------------
on another note - combat micro jumps:
warp missile:
this is usefull for attacking a fleeing ship - you need to have a missile lock on the ship before jumping
set your destination location to nearby - you want to retain your lock when you come out of the jump, jump and while in jump fire your missiles - with a little practice this can be as deadly as the 'exodus drop' - though getting the timing right takes some practice.
please note though that some pilots have found a way to turn a defensive stratagy against this into a ruthless counter-attack
strafe attack:
I use this as my default attack against capital ships.
stick your ship on inertial, set your energy bias to energy, jump near the head of the ship and fire your guns as you fly past. combined with missile attacks ( I aim for the weapons systems myself
), its a safe quick and easy way to take out any capital ship...........
I've used varients of this technique on human opponents with some success.....

actually with some close observation of how to game works... most jump are very easy... most caves I jump right in just before the docking bay with the docking tractor beam stopping me...
the hollow moon jump... if I am correct... that is not a moon right?
