I'm currently going through the demo and WOW! There is so much to this game. It's pretty wild! I was just looking at all of the components I can use to build my own ship! Cool!

I am a little overwhelmed at the moment, but plan to take up some of the easier contracts to get used to everything.

I've only played "Shadows of Orion" which I really enjoyed but have been following the web site and games ever since. Legends looks and sounds great!

A few comments/questions:

I noticed in the Inventory console, if I click on a weapon, it seems to dismount or remove it. I could not get it back. I was clicking on the weapons thinking it would display some information regarding that particular weapon.

Is there only a single save slot per pilot? Or is there a way to get multiple save points?

I installed the game in c:\\Program Files (not the default), but the installer still placed several config files in c:\\swd3g\\Evochron Legends. Is there a way for the game to recognize those config files if I place them into the Program Files hierarchy?

Thanks, Vice, for all the work you do!

Hi SSquared, welcome to the forum. Nice to see another west coastie. If you roll your pointer over a piece of equipment a picture of it and a desciption should appear. Yes, each pilot slot has one save point at a time so be carfull how you use them (lol). You can back up your pilots and use them later thou. For the rest others will be able to help you and give you better advice. :)

Hello and welcome back :) Yeah, it's probably been about 5-6 years since Shadows of Orion, I'm feeling pretty old, hehe.
I noticed in the Inventory console, if I click on a weapon, it seems to dismount or remove it. I could not get it back. I was clicking on the weapons thinking it would display some information regarding that particular weapon.
Clicking on it while docked will sell it to the station or city you're docked at. Just hold the cursor over the item to view a description of it in the middle of the inventory console. If you want to transfer it to your cargo bay, right click on it. Likewise, try transfer an weapons from your cargo bay to your ship, right click on it instead of left click.
Is there only a single save slot per pilot? Or is there a way to get multiple save points?
In the game, enter the exit/pause menu, then click on 'Select profile and save', then click on one of the available slots. All of your save data will transfer to the new slot.
I installed the game in c:\\Program Files (not the default), but the installer still placed several config files in c:\\swd3g\\Evochron Legends. Is there a way for the game to recognize those config files if I place them into the Program Files hierarchy?
Yes, use the 'savedir.txt' option to instruct the game to use the folder you want. Details are in the technical notes section in the instructions. Here's a copy and paste of it:

If you want to change the location for where the game stores pilot profiles and other game files, simply create a text file in the game's installation directory (usually C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends) named savedir.txt and in the first line, enter the drive letter and folder name where you want the game data files to be kept. Example: C:\\Users\\Username\\EvochronLegends The game will automatically add the \\sw3dg\\EvochronLegends text to the line you enter, so you don't need to include it. Make sure to copy/move the original files to the new location to keep your settings and pilot profiles.

By all means, dont be shy about logging onto multiplayer.
I have found it's the best way to learn the game. . .provided you get on a server with people on it to ask questions. Right Clicking the server in the server list will tell you if anyone is on.

Welcome SSquared it will be good to see you online in MP....I too am living in the Pacific Northwest :). It is always a good ideal to have a duplicate file saved, just in case. If you have anymore questions just ask here in the forum.

Welcome SSquared. The pilots around here are all great guys. There are a lot of pilots here that have been around for a long time (Brave is 900 years old:P) and have played Renagades prior to Legends, so we are all willing to help with flight tactics and skills.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I haven't responded until now. I've spent a bit more time getting familiar with things. I loved the solar panel contract. It seems like an original idea and kind of neat to actually see the debris disappear.

I hopped on to MP this morning but did not see anyone.

I'm still floundering around Sapphire. I want to try all of the various contracts in here.

I think it may be a good idea to have a FAQ on contracts for finding objects and jettisoning objects. This seems to come up on the threads a bit. And usually stuffed inside of "I'm a newbie" thread, like this one. :)

I tried to find an object just now and did not really know what to look for. I started flying around the NAV point and after awhile, I finally saw some symbol show up, so I thought maybe it was pointing me to the object. I started getting closer to the object (rectangular, box shape) and then suddenly it just kept up with me. I could get no closer and it just seemed to follow right in front of me. I don't know if that was the object I was supposed to find or not, but I did not receive any message about competing the contract.

At this point, I'm just trying to build up some cash and maybe upgrade my ship before flying to another system.

If you were doing a locate and retrieve, you needed to tractor it into your cargo bay and take it back to the station :)

Hahaha. Are you serious? I used my tractor beam on it and it suddenly poofed away! I thought I had destroyed it. :)

But this was just a locate contract. It said I needed to get close enough to identify the object. I don't think I needed to bring it back. Hmmm, maybe I should have tried that.

Thanks for the tip!
