NAV Screen Questions

Post by bssybeep »

Terrific game, love the ship customization. I have a few questions on the Nav screen and Contracts:
1.When I accept a contract, I know I can press "F2" and jump to the contract location. But why isn't the contract waypoint labeled? In case I want to make a stop before heading to the contract point or whatever. Before I read about jumping to the contract point right after accepting, I couldn't find the waypoint on the nav screen due to no label.

2.So, I accepted my 1st contract to clean a solar array. I cleaned it with my tractor beam, but what now? The contract still shows open. Once I finish cleaning, I would expect the contract to close and to be automatically paid. I tried returning to the station, figuring I needed to go back to the station to be paid, but no go?? Did I not clean the array good enough?

3.I would really like to be able to save with an open contract. Never can tell when you might have a screw up during a contact mission.

otherwise, very well done game.

thanks in advance

1. The contract waypoint is usually a green box. You can set your target destination independently, but the marker won't remain forever. Recommended when taking any mission involving a capship, since you land right on top of it otherwise.

2. You need to clean every single tile, and it's pretty easy to miss a speck of dust somewhere. Once all are clean, you get a message (and the money). If you don't, you usually missed a panel, or didn't clean it thorougly enough - hard to spot, really. Just run the beam over all tiles again. Generally, take your time panning the beam to avoid this issue.

3. Contracts are random. I usually save at the station before taking a contract. I case I blow it/get blown up I can usually get a similar contract. Shame if it's a high-priced delivery mission (aka "free cash"), but everything else is pretty much exchangeable.

If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
